Maxxis Premitra All Season AP3 SUV
The Maxxis Premitra All Season AP3 SUV is an all-season touring tyre with generally good aquaplaning resistance and competitive dry braking and wet handling. High rolling resistance is a consistent drawback, while wet stopping, snow handling and comfort are less convincing.
Independent tests repeatedly praise resistance to aquaplaning, including first place in straight aquaplaning at Auto Bild Allrad in 2024 and in curved aquaplaning at Tyre Reviews in 2025. Dry braking can also be competitive, and wet handling earned the best subjective rating in the 2025 Tyre Reviews SUV test. It finished fifth of seven there and was Recommended. The unusually weaker measured aquaplaning results in 2021 show that its advantage has not appeared in every size and test.
Rolling resistance is the clearest compromise, finishing last in both 2025 comparisons. Wet braking is less persuasive than wet handling, and dry understeer appears in more than one assessment. Snow results differ unusually sharply: second in traction and braking at Tyre Reviews in 2025 contrasted with near-bottom results at Sportscars the same year; snow handling was weak in both. Comfort also varies from a shared best rating to average or limited. Its standing-water resistance is more dependable than its efficiency, comfort or snow performance.
