Performance Analysis

Drawn from 9 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R is strongest in warm, dry track use, with precise steering and fast handling the recurring findings. It led dry handling in Sport Auto's 2018 and 2022 mixed road-and-track tests and the 2019 17-inch track test. Testers repeatedly praised steering feel, traction and control near the limit. The 2019 test found no overheating, while Tyre Reviews noted consistent dry laps in 2020 and awarded Highly recommended. Warm-up matters: the 2019 and 2021 comparisons both found it needed temperature before delivering its grip.

Wet performance depends strongly on the comparison. Sport Auto placed wet braking last of nine in 2018 and ninth of ten in 2022, with gaps of 46.4% and 45.5%. Its wins in wet braking and handling against two track rivals in Tyre Reviews' 2020 test were unusually favourable beside those mixed-field results, although rear aquaplaning remained a concern. Auto Bild Sportscars also found strong wet laps in 2017 but weak aquaplaning resistance. Dry braking is inconsistent: first of ten in Sport Auto's 2017 test became last of ten in 2022, and last of three in the 2020 comparison. The steering and lap-time strengths are clearer than any claim of consistently short stops or suitability for everyday road use.

Road Tyres vs Track Tyres vs Slick Tyres

Tyre Reviews 245/40 R18 Tested by Tyre Reviews

Compared to the PZ4, the comfort was significantly reduced and the steering is way heavier and quicker. The Pz4 good for a uhp tyre but this is amazing! The second fast lap was seriously impressive. Tyres took longer to warm in, but once warm they were exceptional. The steering had amazing feel and turn in and I could adjust the line of the car way more freely. Most importantly corner exit was way faster thanks to improved traction. You could really drive the car instead of babysitting it. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. If the road tyres were 7/10, these were 10/10.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R VS Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport RS VS Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R

Tyre Reviews 325/30 R21 Tested by Tyre Reviews Highly Rec.

In this size at least, the Trofeo R should be a rival to the Cup 2, not the Cup 2 R. The Trofeo R was slower and softer in the dry, but had much better mechanical grip in the wet. As the lap times were more consistent, this is the type of tyre to fit if you plan on doing a lot of track days.

The Trofeo R has the sharpest steering in all conditions, and unlike the other tyres on test, showed no signs of overheating. Needed a lot of warm up, hence not being the ideal tyre to also be used on the road.
