Which should you buy?
Pick the Michelin CrossClimate 3 if you regularly face snow or want the more consistently balanced tyre across dry, snow, comfort and noise in these 2026 tests. Choose the Nokian Seasonproof 2 if wet braking and aquaplaning resistance are your priorities and you can accept weaker snow performance and the reported dry-dynamics sensitivity in some fitments.
Where the CrossClimate 3 is stronger
- Repeatedly strongest on snow, winning snow braking, traction and handling across Auto Bild 2026, Auto Bild Allrad 2026, Auto Zeitung 2026, Auto Express 2026, Tyre Reviews 2026/27 and Die Reifentester 2026.
- Consistently shorter dry braking than the Nokian in every shared test, typically by about 1 to 4%.
- Often scores well for day-to-day refinement, with comfort and noise advantages noted in Auto Bild 2026, Auto Bild Allrad 2026, Auto Zeitung 2026 and Die Reifentester 2026.
Where the Seasonproof 2 is stronger
- Consistently shorter wet braking than the Michelin in all seven shared comparisons, generally by about 1.5 to 6%.
- Frequently the quicker tyre for wet handling pace and wet circle grip, including standout wet handling and circle results in Auto Bild 2026 and Auto Bild Allrad 2026.
- Often strong for aquaplaning resistance, with clear wins in both straight and curved aquaplaning in Auto Express 2026, and leading curved aquaplaning by a big margin in Auto Bild Allrad 2026.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Michelin CrossClimate 3
- 82%from 12 reviews
- 75%would buy again
- 189,947 milesdriven by reviewers
Across nine reviews, the Michelin CrossClimate 3 is widely praised as a highly capable all-season tyre with standout comfort, low noise, and strong real-world grip in dry and wet conditions. Drivers also report impressive longevity/wear, with several noting confident handling and reassuring performance in winter climates and light-to-moderate snow. The main recurring limitation is traction and predictability on ice (and at the limit in heavier snow), where it cannot consistently match a dedicated winter tyre and may feel a bit comfort-biased rather than sporty.
- High ride comfort
- Low road noise/quiet on most surfaces
- Strong wet-road performance (grip and aquaplaning resistance)
- Good all-season versatility across wide temperature ranges
- Ice grip is only moderate and trails dedicated winter tyres
- Not a sporty tyre (softer feel/less sharp than summer performance tyres)
- Can feel less secure at the limit in heavier snow conditions

All 12 CrossClimate 3 reviewsWho is reading this review it should know that they are bad in wet condition. I tought that beacause is Michelin they will be great but they are not. In dry they are good but in wet they are losing traction and understeer very easy. I don’t have a powerfull car, is only 120hp. I will not buy this tyres again. There are better choices than Michelin at least in the segment of all season
Nokian Seasonproof 2
- 80%from 21 reviews
- 76%would buy again
- 80,950 milesdriven by reviewers
Owners generally rate the Nokian Seasonproof 2 highly, most often praising its strong wet grip and reassuring all-round safety, alongside a quiet, comfortable ride. Snow traction is also frequently highlighted as impressively winter-like for an all-season tyre, with dry-road grip getting positive mentions too. A meaningful minority report mixed feelings about steering precision and stability at higher speeds, and around one in five owners mention fuel economy/rolling resistance not being as good as hoped.
- Strong wet grip and confidence in rain
- Low road noise (quiet motorway and around town)
- Comfortable, compliant ride quality
- Very capable traction in snow for an all-season tyre
- Steering feel can be a bit vague or not very direct
- Mixed stability at higher speeds (some report nervousness)
- Fuel economy/rolling resistance can be disappointing

All 21 Seasonproof 2 reviewsAfter installing the Seasonproof 1 and being happy with it, I decided to put on the Seasonproof 2 and it has improved a lot... good performance in water, they provide safety and are very comfortable... they are not sports tyres, but in water they provide safety... I don't know how they perform in snow... silent just like the Seasonproof 1... happy ☺ so far good wear.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
These two tyres have been compared directly in seven independent tests, all from 2026: Auto Bild's All Season Tyre Test, Auto Bild's 30-tyre all-season braking test, Auto Bild Allrad's SUV all-season test, Auto Zeitung's all-season test, Auto Express's all-season test, Tyre Reviews' “The BEST All Season Tyres For 2026/27”, and Die Reifentester's 225/40 R18 all-season test.
Across those shared tests the headline is clear. The Michelin CrossClimate 3 more often places higher overall and repeatedly leads on snow performance and dry braking, while the Nokian Seasonproof 2 is the more wet-focused tyre, especially for wet braking, wet handling pace and aquaplaning resistance.
In other words, it is a choice between a snow-biased all-season (Michelin) and a rain-biased all-season (Nokian), with the balance showing up very consistently from test to test.
Conclusion
Looking at the shared results, the Michelin CrossClimate 3 is the more consistently well-rounded tyre overall, finishing ahead of the Nokian Seasonproof 2 in six of the seven shared comparisons, including Auto Bild 2026 (4th vs 7th), Auto Bild Allrad 2026 (4th vs 6th), Auto Zeitung 2026 (4th vs 7th), Auto Express 2026 (2nd vs 5th), Tyre Reviews' 2026/27 test (8th vs 9th) and Die Reifentester 2026 (4th vs 7th). The one exception is Auto Bild's 2026 braking-only qualifier, where the Nokian's stronger wet braking lifts it slightly.
The pattern behind those placings is even clearer. On snow, Michelin has a repeatable advantage in every test that measured it, typically by mid to high single-digit percentages and sometimes more. For example, in Auto Bild Allrad's 2026 SUV test it is around 14% shorter in snow braking and about 16% stronger in traction, and Auto Express 2026 also has it winning all the snow disciplines. Michelin also keeps winning dry braking by small but regular margins, roughly 1 to 4% depending on the test.
Nokian's strength is the wet. It wins wet braking in all seven shared data sets, typically by about 1.5 to 6% (Auto Express 2026 is tight, Tyre Reviews' 2026/27 test is a bigger gap). It is also regularly quicker on wet handling and wet circle work, and it often has a meaningful aquaplaning advantage, particularly in Auto Express 2026 where it leads both straight and curved aquaplaning by a large margin. The big caveat is that Tyre Reviews' 2026/27 test notes unstable, slow responses in the dry and snow for the Nokian in that size and vehicle, suggesting a potential fitment sensitivity.
For drivers who see regular snow or want calmer everyday manners with strong comfort and noise scores, the CrossClimate 3's repeated snow dominance and generally strong subjective results make it the safer bet. For drivers whose main challenge is standing water and wet-road grip, and snow is only occasional, the Seasonproof 2's wet braking and aquaplaning edge is hard to ignore, provided you are happy with its weaker snow results and the mixed reports on dry behaviour.

Where this data comes from
Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tyres ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tyre Reviews Score rates each tyre out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tyres can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tyre Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tyres independently since 2007.
