Data updated

Which should you buy?

Pick the Goodyear Vector All Season 4 for the best all-round safety envelope-especially if you see real winter conditions, want dependable handling, and care about efficiency. Consider the Nokian Seasonproof 2 if your priority is wet handling and aquaplaning resistance in a mostly mild climate, and you can accept weaker snow performance and higher rolling resistance.

Where the Vector All Season 4 is stronger

  • Consistently higher overall performance: ahead in all four shared tests (including two outright wins: 1/12 and 1/10)
  • Shorter braking distances in dry and wet across the data (e.g., wet 43.4 m vs 44.9 m; dry 37.9 m vs 39.6 m in the 30-set braking test)
  • Stronger winter capability: repeatedly better snow traction/braking/handling (e.g., +19.75% traction in the SUV test: 4044 N vs 3377 N)

Where the Seasonproof 2 is stronger

  • Wet-dynamics specialist: wins wet handling tests and is described as best-in-wet (away from braking) in the Auto Bild Allrad report
  • Stronger straight-line aquaplaning resistance in 3/3 measured comparisons (e.g., 100 vs 96.5 km/h; 87.14 vs 85.18 km/h; 86.9 vs 84.3 km/h)
  • Often competitive in wet braking (including a win in Die Reifentester: 30.3 m vs 30.9 m) and strong lateral wet grip

Wins count every measurement the shared tests recorded for both tyres; a tick marks the tyre ahead on that line. Subjective driver scores count as wins but are never averaged, because each test uses its own scale.

Each row is one published test in which both tyres ran on the same car, in the same size, on the same day. The line is the whole field, winner on the left.

Point at or tap any spoke for both tyres' figures.

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 36 m stop against 34.2 m is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 90%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 7 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Every measurement, side by side

Averages of the figures both tyres posted in the same tests. The gap is the average of each test's own gap, so figures from different cars and years are never mixed. Open a discipline for its measurements, and a measurement for every test's figure.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Scores beyond the shared tests

I just got them on a Tesla model 3.
Consumption went up by 10-15wh/m but still very good. After 500 miles on motor way and city driving my average is at 195 wh/m. I'm a very efficient driver. The tyres are more comfortable than my summer set but way too noisy for my liking.
My old Hankook Ion Evo were down to 2mm and gave me 180-186wh/m.
All this in 20C degree in the UK.
Haven't tried them on snow or ice. There was a heavy shower the other day and on purpose I went through a deep puddle on dual carriage wa with 50 mph and there was no aquaplaning at all.
The only reason I won't get them again is noise as I drive around 40k miles a year.

Owners generally rate the Nokian Seasonproof 2 highly, most often praising its strong wet grip and reassuring all-round safety, alongside a quiet, comfortable ride. Snow traction is also frequently highlighted as impressively winter-like for an all-season tyre, with dry-road grip getting positive mentions too. A meaningful minority report mixed feelings about steering precision and stability at higher speeds, and around one in five owners mention fuel economy/rolling resistance not being as good as hoped.

  • Strong wet grip and confidence in rain
  • Low road noise (quiet motorway and around town)
  • Comfortable, compliant ride quality
  • Very capable traction in snow for an all-season tyre
  • Steering feel can be a bit vague or not very direct
  • Mixed stability at higher speeds (some report nervousness)
  • Fuel economy/rolling resistance can be disappointing

After installing the Seasonproof 1 and being happy with it, I decided to put on the Seasonproof 2 and it has improved a lot... good performance in water, they provide safety and are very comfortable... they are not sports tyres, but in water they provide safety... I don't know how they perform in snow... silent just like the Seasonproof 1... happy ☺ so far good wear.

Reading the results

Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.

This comparison pits two premium-touring all-season tyres with very different priorities: the Goodyear Vector All Season 4, a new pattern that repeatedly lands at or near the top of group tests, versus the Nokian Seasonproof 2, a tyre that often shines in wet grip but can be more specialized (and more size/vehicle sensitive) than its badge suggests.

Across four shared 2026 tests in popular sizes (225/45 R17, 225/55 R18 SUV fitment, and 225/40 R18), the headline is consistency versus contradiction. Goodyear dominates overall rankings (1st, 1st, 2nd, 4th) and builds its results on balanced dry/wet performance plus notably strong snow ability and low rolling resistance. Nokian's best moments come in wet handling and aquaplaning resistance, but those strengths are frequently offset by weaker snow metrics and less convincing dry-road behaviour-especially in the 225/40 R18 tests where stability and response were criticised.

Conclusion

On the evidence of these shared tests, the Goodyear Vector All Season 4 is the more complete all-season tyre and the safer “one set does everything” choice. It beats the Nokian in every shared overall ranking (4/30 vs 10/30; 1/12 vs 6/12; 1/10 vs 9/10; 2/9 vs 7/9) and repeatedly posts shorter stopping distances in both dry and wet. The braking gaps are meaningful in real driving: for example, in the 30-tyre braking test Goodyear stops 1.7 m shorter in the wet (43.4 m vs 44.9 m) and 1.7 m shorter in the dry (37.9 m vs 39.6 m), and it extends that advantage across all sizes.

Where the Seasonproof 2 makes its case is heavy-rain security at speed: it wins straight aquaplaning in three of the shared tests (e.g., 100 vs 96.5 km/h in the Auto Bild Allrad test) and is repeatedly among the very best for wet handling feel/pace. But it also carries clear trade-offs-most notably snow performance (bottom group for traction/braking in the SUV test, and last on snow traction in multiple 225/40 R18 tests) and higher rolling resistance (e.g., 8.0 vs 6.58 kg/t in Auto Bild Allrad). The practical takeaway: choose the Goodyear if you want the broadest safety margin across seasons; choose the Nokian primarily if your winters are mild and your biggest concern is standing water and wet-cornering grip.

Where this data comes from

Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tyres ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.

About the TR Score

The Tyre Reviews Score rates each tyre out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tyres can be compared even before a test has run them together.

Who does the testing

Every test published as a Tyre Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tyres independently since 2007.
