Combined 31% 6.9

A fixed curve turns the combined figure into the 0 to 10 score, so roughly the top 10% of a group score 9 or more.

Category by category

How it compares with other all-season tyres in each area, and how much each area counts. 50 is the middle of the group.

Faded bars rest on one or two tests. This tyre does not carry the 3PMSF snowflake mark, so Snow counts for less and Ice not at all against all-season tyres that do.

Its own test results decide 81% of the test figure. The other 19% is the average for its group, and it shrinks as more tests arrive.

High needs at least 3 tests, with its own results deciding 90% or more. Medium needs 2 tests and 70%. Anything less is Limited: expect the number to move as tests arrive.

Is Expensive Better? 2026 AutoView Korean All-Season Tyre Test P8 of 9

The Hankook Kinergy ST AS finished eighth overall. It has real strengths in grip and efficiency, but weak wet braking and comfort pull down what is otherwise a competent mid-grade tyre.

Weak: Wet Braking, Subj. Comfort, Subj. Noise Winner: Kumho Majesty X Solus

Bought these after a horrible experience with some Tiger Paws (avg rating in all categories about a 5) Got them over 5 years ago and have been very satisfied with all aspects of this tire. Even with over 60k miles, they handle very well (for a moderately spirited, mostly highway driver--at least as spirited as my old KIA Soul w/ 250+k miles will allow) and are pretty quiet. Traction in wet is excellent and in snow (we get a lot in MN) is really pretty good. OEM tires were Nexen Premier and these were better. Although I still have some tread left, I can see the wear bars sprouting and since I am somewhat elderly, am about to replace them with something else. Why? Because I want to.
