Kumho Solus 4S HA32+
A sensibly priced, comfort-led all-season tyre that suits relaxed family-car driving, with reassuring cold and wet manners - but it isn't the sharpest or most secure option when braking hard or hitting deep standing water.

2026 Die Reifentester All Season Tyre Test - 225/40 R18 P9 of 9
The Kumho Solus 4S HA32+ is a budget tyre that behaves like one where it matters most. It handles better in the wet than its price suggests, but it gives away more ground than anything else here under braking and in standing water, which is the wrong place to save money on a fast car.

Kumho Solus 4S HA32+ Owner Reviews
Review this tyreWhat owners say summarised from 6 reviews
Drivers generally describe the Kumho Solus 4S HA32 Plus as a good-value all-season tyre aimed at relaxed, family-car driving, with strong confidence in cold/wet conditions and good resistance to aquaplaning. Comfort is often rated well, with predictable behaviour when pushed moderately. The most consistent drawbacks are a less sporty/less communicative feel and some reports of instability or “float/drift,” plus a small fuel-economy penalty and occasional noise. One low-scoring outlier found the tyre extremely unstable and unsafe in the wet and at motorway speeds.
Owners praise
- Good wet/cold grip and overall safety for calm driving
- Strong aquaplaning resistance
- Good value versus premium alternatives and far better than budget/Chinese brands
- Comfortable ride and predictable handling at normal speeds
- Capable in winter conditions (wet/snow) for typical family-car use
Owners criticise
- Not suited to fast/sporty or powerful-car driving; muted steering/braking feel
- Some reports of unsteady/floaty behaviour (drift/fidgety feel)
- Higher rolling resistance leading to slightly worse fuel economy
- Some road noise

Wow, not sure what to say really, have liked Kumho tyres, and have driven several all season tyres over the years, I’ve never come across such a fidgety and concerning tyre as these.
In the dry they give no feedback when close to the limit, which comes at lower speeds compared to other tyres I’ve driven.
In the wet it’s an absolute car crash, took a corner that I would always take at 60, even in the wet and have done with budgets and premium tyres as well as these Kumhos, the back wanted to spin out and for the first time in 50,000 miles I’ve had to counter steer to correct the car on this road, in the wet. It wasn’t even raining hard the roads were just slightly wet so I’d be terrified to find out what these are like in a downpour.
Lastly on the motorway they are incredibly fidgety, requiring constant corrections, the tyres have all been balanced several times so it definitely isn’t a balancing issue, car is fine as well, all checked as I’m fussy with the car doing 17500 miles a year I need the car, so it’s well looked after.
End of the day I’ve only had them on 5000 miles, and I’m taking them off, I’d genuinely be scared using these in winter, or heavy rain.

Don't confuse the Plus model with the previous HA32 model, these are a much improved design.
With all the snow, frost, and sub 5°c weather in England this 2024 to 2025 winter, my Kumhos been fantastic so far, irrespective of price.
As I don't have £600 to drop on tyres at a moments notice, I chose the Kumhos 4S HA32 Plus.
I had to get rubber fitted quickly, as I bought a car with four mismatched makes. I think there were two Runway branded on opposite corners of different types. Not ideal.
Road noise is acceptable, and a much lower pitch than the mismatched set was, making them similarly loud but masses less intrusive.
Cold and wet grip has been the biggest improvement, with junction traction being faultless despite all the oil and diesel rainbow soaked tarmac.
Fuel economy has dropped by perhaps 5%, but the much more comfortable, quiet, assured, and smooth performance of the Kumhos more than making up for that.
Dry weather braking and steering is reasonable, but these aren't high performance summer tyres, so feedback is muted but still present.
Mildly slippery mud and wet grass poses no issues for these tyres, where before I would have to be very careful where to park.
Aquaplaning has been genuinely eradicated for me. The steering never goes light, nor does the back end twitch in a deluge.
I had tracking, balancing, alignment, and new valve stems done when I had the Kumhos rubber fitted, and wear has been equal and minimal over the last 2500 miles.
These aren't the perfect tyres, but they offer everything a family car should need with good braking, acceleration, cornering, and performance in bad conditions.
