This head-to-head pits the premium-touring Hankook Kinergy 4S2 against the value-focused Viking Fourtech Plus, both all-season options for passenger cars. Across two 2025 Auto Bild tests (sports car 225/45 R18 and SUV 215/55 R17), the Hankook consistently finished near the front (2/12 and 3/13), while the Viking landed mid-pack (9/12 and 9/13). That gap is driven largely by decisive wins for Hankook in dry safety and balanced winter behavior.

In the snow behaves as good as any winter tyre. They are comfortable also. The braking distance seems fine also on wet and dry. I don't care about handling at high speeds and other performance characteristics as they are fitted on a Fiat Panda with 70 HP which is used mostly in the city area.

Conclusion

The Hankook Kinergy 4S2 is the stronger all-rounder with clear safety margins on dry roads (up to ~9% shorter dry braking) and broadly superior control on snow, while maintaining good comfort and efficiency. Its minor trade-off is slightly weaker wet performance versus the very best, though it still outperforms Viking in the sports car wet tests and remains competitive overall.
Viking Fourtech Plus offers credible snow traction and strong straight/curved aquaplaning in the SUV test, plus a price advantage. However, extended dry and (in one test) wet braking undermine overall safety, and steering precision is less satisfying. Choose Hankook if you value consistent safety and driver confidence year-round; pick Viking only if budget is tight and wet aquaplaning resistance is a top priority in mild-winter, rain-heavy regions.
Key Differences
  • Overall rankings: Hankook 2nd/3rd vs Viking 9th/9th
  • Dry braking: Hankook shorter by ~5-9% in both tests
  • Wet performance split: Hankook clearly ahead in sports car test; Viking edges braking/handling in SUV test
  • Aquaplaning: Viking superior (straight and curved in SUV test), Hankook slightly better curved in sports car
  • Snow balance: Hankook leads in handling/slalom; Viking edges traction
  • Refinement: Hankook higher comfort and slightly lower noise in SUV test; Viking marginally quieter in sports car

Footnote

This page has been developed using tyre industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tyres in the same test.

Why is this important? Tyre testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tyre test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tyre tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tyre Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tyre comparison, Tyre Reviews doesn't.
