The Goodyear UltraGrip Performance Plus SUV's strongest recurring quality is wet handling. It led Auto Bild Allrad's measured wet handling in 2021 and 2023, and placed second timed and first subjectively in Tyre Reviews' 2023 test. Snow braking was consistently fourth across all four tests, with gaps to best ranging from 1.3% to 4.5%. Overall results varied from first of ten in Auto Bild Allrad 2021 to seventh of nine in Tyre Reviews 2023, with third in Auto Bild Allrad 2023 and sixth in the 2024 AS SUV test.
Dry handling was usually weaker, placing eighth or ninth in every measured comparison. Dry braking was mostly above midfield, making eighth of nine in Tyre Reviews 2023 unusually poor beside third places in both Auto Bild tests. That Tyre Reviews test also found unusually weak aquaplaning and the highest rolling resistance; Auto Bild 2023 instead praised aquaplaning reserves. Rolling resistance was not a consistent strength elsewhere either. Wet stopping was less strong than cornering: seventh in Auto Bild 2023 and the 2024 AS test, contrasting with an unusually favourable third in 2021. Testers praised comfort in Tyre Reviews 2023 but found it average in 2021, while AS criticised increased noise in 2024. The record favours wet handling and dependable snow braking more than dry agility or efficiency.

2023 Tyre Reviews SUV Winter Tyre Test
The Goodyear UltraGrip Performance Plus SUV was much better in the wet and the snow, having excellent grip in both categories, and was a comfortable tyre to drive on. As usual for this tyre it was one of the worst in the dry, but unusually for this tyre it had the highest rolling resistance of the group and struggled in the aquaplaning tests. It's still a good tyre, but as one of the older tyres of the group it's starting to show its age.
