Maxxis Premitra HP5 Owner Reviews

Review this tyre

What owners say summarised from 41 reviews

Owners most often praise the Maxxis Premitra HP5 for strong dry grip and reassuring wet grip, with many describing it as confidence-inspiring for everyday driving. Value for money is another standout, with around one in five owners highlighting premium-like performance for the price. Longevity is more divisive: almost as many owners criticise tread life as praise it, and around one in seven report that grip and stability drop away noticeably once the tread wears down. Noise is also mixed, with a similar number finding it quiet as those who complain of loudness on certain road surfaces.

Had 215/45/17 fitted. So far so good after a few thousand miles. Wet grip is excellent compared to some premium brands I have had in the past costing twice as much. Wear is acceptable but for how much they cost I believe it evens out in the end when coming to fitting new perhaps a couple of months sooner than before. Comfort is decent and noise acceptable. Dry grip very good. Cornering relatively stable. Yes there are better tyres out there, but for someone on a budget these are excellent.

Very pleasantly surprised by these - they are quite cheap yet very well made, & sturdy - yet the ride is not very hard - its about in the middle I would say. Straight line stability is great - none of this pulling to one side or the other on odd surfaces.Wet grip is amazing and yes I even tried them out briefly in snow and in a quiet car park - these are as good as the best of the other Summer tyres I have ever had .
To be honest I don't know how the wear will pan out - but the rest is so good I would accept less then good wear as they are quite cheap to buy - better handling and feedback than the top tyres I have had so far.
Despite not claiming to have a rim guard there is more there than on my old Falkens which had rim guards!
I love these and will buy more.

Applied this Maxxis HP5 on my wife's Suzuki Swift for 6 weeks/2500KM. At the first week these HP5 surprised me very much, I can even drift the little Swift at 80Km/hr on corners without braking it and no tyre crying noise. However, after 1500 KM, I found loud ZZZ noise up the highway driving at over 80Km/hr. Other than bad noise comfort, I actually feel the grips on wet/dry are quite above average. Recommended only for racing enthusiastic people who do not mind the noise. Me I cannot stand it cause it really trigger my tinnitus.

According to an Article found online:
(The Maxxis Premitra HP5 has been awarded the highest honour at 2015 Motor Trend magazine's ‘Tyre of the Year' award ceremony in Shanghai surpassing the likes of industry leaders Pirelli, Bridgestone and Goodyear.)
I decided to give the Maxxis Premitra HP5 a try.
Not expecting much from chinese brands, I was positive surprised !

Outstanding performance in wet and dry weather conditions !
The EU - Tire label rated A for wet conditions is spot on !
Never had that great street performance experience on other tires. Not even the Continental Winter Contact tires I had were that god on rainy conditions.
I drive once a week a 49 km mountain road.
The grip on the curves is just incredible god.
Minimum vibration and rolling noise. On freeway,Highway speeds even lover
sounds like beeing in a airplane.
Wear is not visible jet. but because of its full-silica rubber compound I guess these will last for a long time.
I understand now why the Maxxis Premitra HP5 beat Pirelli, Bridgestone and Goodyear at the‘Tyre of the Year' award ceremony in Shanghai last year.

I highly recommend these 225/55/16 sized Maxxis Premitra HP5 tires
for BMW and simmilar build and weighted cars.
Tire size 205 to 235 may be same or simmilar god.
Please do not complain later, If you need big tires for SUV or sports cars.
Big tires are different in handling and noise levels.Wait for a review with the
big sized tires you need.
