Nankang AS1 Owner Reviews

Review this tyre

What owners say summarised from 18 reviews

Owners of the Nankang AS1 most often praise its tread life, dry grip and value for money, with 12 of 18 written reviews positive overall. The average score is 69.2%, and accounts from owners using the tyre through its life generally support the favourable wear comments. Wet grip is the main reservation, criticised in around two in five reviews, sometimes with reports of sliding or wheelspin during ordinary road use. Three reviews praise wet grip, so experience is not uniform, but the balance of comments is negative. Noise is divided almost evenly, with four favourable comments and three complaints, rather than a clear strength or weakness.

Very good tyres for the price compared to premium tyres. I originally had Michelin tyres, which were good but cost double the price and replaced all 4 tyres to Nankang AS1. Let's face it I am not going to be rally racing to notice the minor performance or braking benefits. Fuel efficiency made little or no difference compared to the saving of 1 new tyre let alone 2 new tyres. The wear is excellent, I have 3mm tread on all 4 tyres after 1 year 4 months and approx 10000 miles on motorway, tarmac road. Road noise is slightly more but cannot really tell on an SUV 4x4. Wet and Snow grip is not as good as premium tyres, but unless your driving in these conditions are the same as in dry then should not be an issue. Would I buy again yes.

Good grip on dry, but wet grip is not so good. Very inexpensive and last long. A bit noisy when worn.

These tires were the cheapest options for the Z4 with the staggered (225/255 front/rear) size and the dealer where the vehicle was purchased from put them on in 2010 ($90 front, $110 rear). For regular day to day driving they are a decent tire although they are noisy. However, once the smallest amount of rain hits the pavement they are outright DANGEROUS. The slightest throttle input on intersections from a stop gets the back-end out atleast 10-15cm before you can realize and correct. Although they are supposed to be an all season tire, there is no way these tires would take even the smallest amount of snow in southern Ontario. The Z4 is parked in the winter so I have not had a chance to test them out in the snow. It is safe to say that I would not be getting them again, especially since there are many options that are only slightly more expensive. You get what you pay for.

Had a sey of these after needing 4 tyres. Replacements for my Bridgestone Potenza's were £260 per tyre. The AS1's were £93.
Although the bridgestones were a better tyre, they were not £160+ better and I would definately but these again.

The worst tires we had today, not advise. They are good for the variety of measures and accessible only by price
