Across seven independent winter tests, the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 shows a clear pattern as an extreme-condition specialist: consistently front-running for ice and generally very strong on snow, which underpins its strong overall results (average overall placing 2.9 in-class, including wins/near-wins such as 1/10 in the 2017 Autocenter studded test and 2/8 in both 2018 and 2020 Vi Bilägare studded tests). Testers repeatedly describe "excellent handling on ice" and "high levels of grip on snow and ice", and the objective data backs that up with multiple class wins on ice (e.g. 1/8 ice braking in 2020 Vi Bilägare; 1/5 in-class ice braking in 2020 Test World; 1/10 ice braking in 2017 Autocenter) plus strong snow handling results (e.g. 1/8 snow handling in 2020 Vi Bilägare).
