The PIRELLI Scorpion Winter 2 is a snow dynamics specialist that provides sporty handling on wintery roads. Its most praised attribute is its "überragender Seitenführung auf Schnee" (outstanding side grip on snow), which is critical for safety in sudden avoidance maneuvers. It is also described as being "richtig schnell" (really fast) on the wet handling course. This sporty nature fades on dry pavement, however, where the testers note it "lässt mächtig Boden liegen" (loses significant ground) and has limited dynamic potential. The Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 most often combines short braking distances and useful snow traction with weaker aquaplaning resistance in bends. Dry braking was first of seven in AMS 2023 and second of nine in Tyre Reviews 2023. Wet braking led the 2023 Auto Bild Allrad test and was second of ten in the 2024 AS SUV comparison. Tyre Reviews recommended it in 2023, with the fastest dry and wet handling laps, second-place snow traction and low noise.

Handling and wet braking vary more than those results suggest. Its first-place dry handling in Tyre Reviews 2023 was unusually strong beside last-place results in AMS 2023 and AS 2024, and 12th of 13 in Auto Bild Sportscars 2025. Wet braking was seventh of nine in Tyre Reviews 2023, an unusually weak exception to several stronger results. Wet handling also ranged from first to below midfield, despite a strong second of 13 in Auto Bild 2025. Curved aquaplaning was repeatedly weak, including eighth of nine in Tyre Reviews 2023 and tenth of 13 in Auto Bild 2025. Rolling resistance was last of ten in AS 2024 and 12th of 13 in Auto Bild 2025. Snow traction is often competitive, while comfort receives mixed assessments.

The new Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 was the best in the dry overall, the fastest around wet handling, though it couldn't quite match that in wet braking, good in the snow, and one of the quietest tyres on test. It did struggle a little more in the deeper water of aquaplaning and like the Goodyear, didn't have a great rolling resistance, but overall a good tyre. Recommended
