Data updated
Which should you buy?
Choose the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 for the best all-round summer performance-especially if you drive in the wet, do higher mileage, or care about running costs, noise and efficiency. Choose the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 if your priority is sharp dry handling feel and strong aquaplaning reserves at a lower upfront price, and you can accept shorter tyre life and weaker wet-braking performance.
Where the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is stronger
- Consistently stronger wet braking (wins 10/10 shared tests; often 5-7% shorter stopping distances, e.g., 42.9 m vs 46.1 m in AutoBild 2026)
- Higher overall test consistency and rankings (e.g., 2nd/20 AutoBild 2026; 1st/10 AZ 2025; 1st/21 AutoBild UHP 2023)
- Exceptional wear/longevity and running costs (e.g., 63,830 km vs 38,420 km AutoBild 2026; similarly large gaps in multiple tests) plus strong value metrics
Where the Proxes Sport 2 is stronger
- Often very strong aquaplaning reserves, especially laterally (e.g., leads both straight and curved aquaplaning in the 2026 Summer SUV test)
- Quick, reactive dry handling with frequent marginal wins in dry handling categories and strong subjective dry feel (e.g., AutoBild 2026 subjective dry handling 8.7 vs 8.0)
- Competitive dry braking (usually close to Goodyear; sometimes effectively a tie, e.g., 34.6 m vs 34.5 m AutoBild 2026)
The bullet points are analysis of the shared tests and of owner reviews; the measured wins in each discipline are in the tables below. Where the two disagree, the figures are right.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6
- 86%from 228 reviews
- 83%would buy again
- 1,941,005 milesdriven by reviewers
Owners rate the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 highly overall (84.8% average), most consistently praising its strong dry and wet grip, with many also noting reassuring handling. Around half of reviewers who mention it say it's noticeably quieter than what they replaced, and comfort is commonly described as a step up for a UHP tyre. Longevity is the main talking point: tread life feedback is genuinely split, with a similar number reporting strong mileage as those seeing faster wear. A smaller but recurring complaint is a softer, less supported feel (and occasional extra noise on coarse surfaces) for drivers wanting a firmer, more precise response.
- Excellent dry grip with lots of confidence
- Very strong wet grip for a summer UHP tyre
- Lower road noise than many rivals and OEM fitments
- Comfortable ride for everyday use
- Tread life is inconsistent: some see great mileage, others rapid wear
- Can be noisy on rough or coarse asphalt for a noticeable minority
- Soft sidewall feel can reduce precision and make responses feel less supported

All 228 Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 reviewsFirstly I'd like to correct/add to something I said in a review about the Mich PS4 where I mentioned the Asy 6s didn't seem to be doing much better. It seems the last bit of tread in the Asy 6s last much longer!, going from 3mm @12.6k to 1.7mm (a bit close!) @21k, so they last much longer than the PS4 tyres on the rear! (The PS4 tyres only lasted 13.2k miles!!).
For a BMW 330d 2010.
Toyo Proxes Sport 2
- 92%from 9 reviews
- 100%would buy again
- 88,100 milesdriven by reviewers
Drivers report the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 delivers standout performance for the price, with consistently strong dry and wet grip, high confidence at speed, and sharp, predictable handling/steering response. Many comparisons against premium competitors (Michelin/Goodyear/Continental/Bridgestone) describe the Toyo as matching or exceeding them in real-world traction and stability while offering excellent value. Wear/longevity feedback is generally very positive where reported, with several users noting robust tread life. A smaller number of drivers mention trade-offs such as limited rim-protection and a sport-tyre firmness (and occasional noise) depending on vehicle setup.
- Strong dry grip and traction
- Excellent wet grip and confidence in the rain
- Sharp handling, steering response, and stability at speed
- Predictable behavior under hard braking/cornering

All 9 Proxes Sport 2 reviewsI have had these tyres on my Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro for a year and a half now and coming from an avid PS4S user I must say I'm shocked at how good these are for the money! They were about £70 per corner cheaper than the PS4S' for the TT in 255/35/19 so initially I was sceptical but I am amazing at the handling, dry AND wet grip they provide and the longevity of the tyres! I have covered a good mix of country roads, motorways and long trips across Europe in the year and a half I have had these on and they have never missed a beat! I'm so confident in the wet, even when driving very "spiritedly"! Granted they aren't as comfortable as a BluEarth GT AE51 for example but the car is lowered on coil overs so its not all the tyres fault. 10/10 would defiantly purchase again and recommend to others.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
This is a comparison between two modern, sporty summer tyres that often end up on the same shortlist for fast road driving: the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 (max-performance summer) and the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 (ultra-high-performance summer). Across 10 shared professional tests, they repeatedly reveal two different philosophies-Goodyear chasing balanced, repeatable safety and efficiency, Toyo leaning into sharp handling and strong aquaplaning reserves at an attractive initial price.
The headline is consistency. The Asymmetric 6 places near the front in almost every major group test (including 2nd/20 in AutoBild 2026 and multiple wins), while the Proxes Sport 2 tends to sit mid-pack to lower mid-pack overall despite showing flashes of outright pace in dry handling and impressive hydroplaning resistance. Where this becomes most relevant is in wet braking, tyre life, and cost-per-kilometre-areas where the Goodyear repeatedly builds a decisive real-world advantage.
Conclusion
On objective safety-critical metrics, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is the clearer all-rounder and the more dependable choice. It wins wet braking in every shared test (10/10), often by meaningful margins-e.g., 42.9 m vs 46.1 m in AutoBild 2026 and 43.3 m vs 46.6 m in the AZ 2025 test-while also generally leading wet handling and wet circle times. Add in lower rolling resistance (e.g., 7.24 vs 8.25 kg/t in the 2026 Summer SUV test) and consistently lower noise, and it's the tyre that tends to feel "complete" in mixed real-world summer conditions.
The Toyo Proxes Sport 2's strongest case is for drivers prioritizing steering agility and aquaplaning reserves, especially in heavy rain at speed. It frequently matches or nips ahead on dry handling (it wins more dry-handling subcategories overall) and posts standout aquaplaning results in some tests-most notably in the 2026 Summer SUV test where it leads straight aquaplaning (89.9 vs 84.8 km/h) and curved aquaplaning (2.56 vs 2.36 m/s²). The trade-off is that it rarely converts that into a strong overall ranking because wet braking, wear, and value are persistent weak points.
The practical takeaway: if you want one sporty summer tyre that covers wet safety, longevity, comfort and efficiency without obvious compromises, the Asymmetric 6 justifies its premium positioning by usually being cheaper to run. The Proxes Sport 2 is better viewed as a more specialized choice-rewarding in steering response and hydroplaning resistance, but harder to recommend if you do high mileage or regularly drive in wet conditions.
