Data updated

Which should you buy?

Choose the Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 if you prioritize maximum braking performance and strong aquaplaning resistance-especially for higher speeds, frequent rain, and higher-mileage driving. Choose the Kumho Solus 4S HA32 Plus if upfront price, comfort/quietness, and generally safe (but not class-leading) handling are your priorities, and you're willing to accept weaker emergency braking and standing-water safety margins.

Where the Turanza All Season 6 is stronger

  • Consistently shorter dry braking in every shared test (e.g., 36.8 m vs 42.5 m in AutoBild 2024; 37.7 m vs 41.5 m in 2026)
  • Stronger wet braking across the board, often by a decisive margin (e.g., 50.5 m vs 57.9 m in AutoBild 2024)
  • Clearly better aquaplaning resistance (higher straight-aqua speeds and much higher curved-aqua lateral grip in 2023-2026 results)

Point at or tap any spoke for both tyres' figures.

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 36 m stop against 34.2 m is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 90%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 7 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6

  • 79%from 44 reviews
  • 76%would buy again
  • 393,509 milesdriven by reviewers

Owners broadly rate the Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 as a very safe, summer-leaning all-season tyre, with a clear consensus around strong wet grip (mentioned by over half of reviewers) and similarly impressive dry grip. Snow traction is generally described as capable for occasional winter use, and around a third of owners also report encouraging tread life. The main drawbacks are feel and efficiency: around one in four owners complain of numb steering feedback and a similar share report higher rolling resistance/fuel consumption, while road noise is divisive with near-even praise and criticism.

  • Very strong wet grip and confidence in heavy rain
  • High dry grip that feels close to a summer tyre
  • Capable snow traction for light to moderate winter conditions
  • Good tread life for year-round use
  • Numb steering feel and limited feedback near the limit
  • Higher rolling resistance and a noticeable fuel economy hit for some
  • Road noise can be intrusive on certain surfaces, despite others finding it quiet

Now nearly 2 years and 20k miles in. These tyres are still as good as they were new and tread has only dropped to 5-6mm all round, suggesting >40,000 miles a set which is more than the OE Pirelli P7 summer tyres managed. Have experienced winter slush and light snow without any grip issues, when the car felt stable and safe, but as I live on the south coast with regular trips to family in Yorkshire, they don’t need to be a dedicated winter tyre. Economy unchanged around 45mpg overall, 50mpg on a motorway run. For my use, these have been very impressive and I would be happy to replace them with another set, although there may be even better choices in 3 years when these should be just about done.

Kumho Solus 4S HA32+

  • 67%from 6 reviews
  • 67%would buy again
  • 73,500 milesdriven by reviewers

Drivers generally describe the Kumho Solus 4S HA32 Plus as a good-value all-season tyre aimed at relaxed, family-car driving, with strong confidence in cold/wet conditions and good resistance to aquaplaning. Comfort is often rated well, with predictable behaviour when pushed moderately. The most consistent drawbacks are a less sporty/less communicative feel and some reports of instability or “float/drift,” plus a small fuel-economy penalty and occasional noise. One low-scoring outlier found the tyre extremely unstable and unsafe in the wet and at motorway speeds.

  • Good wet/cold grip and overall safety for calm driving
  • Strong aquaplaning resistance
  • Good value versus premium alternatives and far better than budget/Chinese brands
  • Comfortable ride and predictable handling at normal speeds
  • Not suited to fast/sporty or powerful-car driving; muted steering/braking feel
  • Some reports of unsteady/floaty behaviour (drift/fidgety feel)
  • Higher rolling resistance leading to slightly worse fuel economy

Better than Chinese brands but not even close to premium brands. Only for calm drive

Reading the results

Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.

This is a classic “premium safety margin vs budget value” all-season matchup. The Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 is positioned as a premium-touring, do-it-all tyre, while the Kumho Solus 4S HA32 Plus targets the same segment but typically at a much lower purchase price-making it attractive if you want all-season capability without the premium bill.

Across five shared professional tests (sizes spanning 225/45 R17 to 225/40 R18), a consistent pattern emerges: the Bridgestone repeatedly dominates the objective safety-critical metrics-especially braking and aquaplaning-while the Kumho's best moments come in subjective feel (notably wet handling) and comfort/noise, plus occasional snow-traction highlights. The result is less about “which is better overall” and more about what kind of risk and refinement trade-offs you're willing to accept.

Conclusion

On balance, the Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 is the clearly stronger performer where it matters most for everyday safety: stopping distance and water management. It wins dry braking in all five shared tests, with meaningful margins (e.g., 36.8 m vs 42.5 m in AutoBild 2024, and 37.7 m vs 41.5 m in Die Reifentester 2026). Wet braking also consistently favors Bridgestone-sometimes by a lot (50.5 m vs 57.9 m in AutoBild 2024)-and its aquaplaning speeds/grip are repeatedly superior (e.g., straight aquaplaning 76.4 vs 69.4 km/h and curved 3.18 vs 2.64 m/s² in AutoBild 2024; similarly large curved-aqua gap in 2026). If you drive faster roads, deal with heavy rain, or simply prioritize maximum braking safety, the data points strongly to Bridgestone.

The Kumho Solus 4S HA32 Plus isn't without merit: it can feel confidence-inspiring on a wet handling circuit (notably a standout wet-handling ranking in the 2026 test), it tends to score better for comfort/noise, and it can be competitive in some snow metrics (AutoBild 2024 snow braking/traction/handling). But these upsides are undermined by its recurring weaknesses in dry braking and aquaplaning reserves-the exact areas that become non-negotiable in emergency situations. Add the mileage evidence from AutoBild 2024 (Bridgestone 54,800 km vs Kumho 40,800 km), and Bridgestone can also justify its premium via longer life and, in several tests, better efficiency-though one test (2026) flagged Bridgestone's rolling resistance as notably high.

Practical takeaway: the Bridgestone is the safer, more complete all-season choice with consistently stronger objective performance; the Kumho is best viewed as a value-oriented alternative for calmer driving and buyers who prioritize purchase price, comfort, and acceptable all-round behavior-while accepting smaller safety margins in braking and standing water.

Where this data comes from

Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tyres ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.

About the TR Score
