In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 36 m stop against 34.2 m is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 92%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 14 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Drivers generally rate the Falken Wildpeak AT4W highly, praising its strong off-road capability and confident dry-road manners, with many also noting surprisingly low noise and good overall comfort for an all-terrain tyre. Wet traction is often described as good to very good, and several users report solid treadwear so far. A notable minority, however, say snow/ice performance (especially braking and slick city winter conditions) doesn't meet expectations for a 3PMS-rated tyre, with a few planning to switch to a dedicated winter setup.
- Excellent off-road traction (dirt/rock/sand/gravel/mud)
- Strong dry-road grip and stable handling
- Generally good wet traction for an all-terrain tyre
- Low road noise/quiet for an A/T tyre
- Snow and ice performance not as strong as expected (especially braking/traction on slick winter surfaces)

Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac RT

All 3 Wrangler DuraTrac RT reviewsI use this tire on an 80 series Landcruiser that spend most of its time off road. The road manners are good, but I find the off road traction to be excellent. Packed snow and ice are not fantastic unless you have studs, but deep snow performance is excellent. When I off road in the winter, it is not uncommon to be driving through area with 2 feet of fresh snow and this tire is awesome. Noise is just ok, but it has a fairly aggressive tread, so a little hum is expected. Wear has been great as I got roughly 50k miles out of my last set even with all the off road driving. I didn't see a lot of tread chunking and I have not had a single sidewall puncture in 10 years with these tires (Yes, I am knocking on wood after typing that). Thick mud is the only 'weakness' for this tire as the self cleaning is not quite as good as my last set of BFG KM2's, but considering this is more of an all terrain rather than a mud terrain tire, I cut it some slack. Also does well in sand.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
The Falken Wildpeak AT4W and Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac RT are rugged all-season all-terrain tyres for SUVs and 4x4s, but their two shared tests point to different priorities. In a 2024 on-road test, the Falken finished fifth of 12 while the Goodyear finished eleventh. A broader 2026 test reversed their order, with the Goodyear fifth of seven and the Falken sixth.
The clearest question for buyers is whether dependable dry-road braking and everyday refinement matter more than strong snow performance. Wet-road results are less straightforward: each tyre led the other in one test, so neither has a consistent head-to-head advantage there.
Conclusion
The Falken is the more convincing choice for drivers who spend most of their time on dry roads. It stopped 2.19 m shorter than the Goodyear in the 2026 test and 2.75 m shorter in the 2024 test. It was also quieter in measured 2026 testing and had the better value score in that test. Its major caveat is the 2026 result: it finished last in the group's main snow tests and straight-line aquaplaning.
The Goodyear makes its strongest case in snow. In the 2026 test, it stopped 3.13 m shorter on snow, accelerated markedly quicker and led the group in snow braking and handling. That advantage did not repeat in the 2024 snow-handling lap, where the Falken was narrowly quicker. Wet performance also changed with the test: Goodyear led by a small margin in 2026, while Falken held a substantial advantage in 2024. Choose the Falken for predominantly road-based use; choose the Goodyear if the stronger, more complete snow showing is worth its dry-braking and refinement trade-offs. Neither result is a substitute for checking how a tyre performs in the conditions you face most.

Where this data comes from
Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tyres ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tyre Reviews Score rates each tyre out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tyres can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tyre Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tyres independently since 2007.
