Across five independent all-terrain comparisons, the Falken Wildpeak AT4W most consistently stands out for on-road braking and an easy, predictable driving balance, with several top-three dynamic results and one outright win. It won the 2024 “BEST All Terrain Tyre for 2025” test overall (1/5, test winner), aided by class-leading refinement scores and the shortest dry braking distance (1/5). In Tire Rack's 2024 on-road test it again impressed in stopping power and wet circuit pace (2/12 in dry braking, +4.8% from best; 3/12 in wet handling, +3.8%), with testers calling it “balanced and predictable in every condition” and noting consistent emergency lane-change behaviour. It can also feel strong in snow cornering/composure despite weaker measured traction: in Tire Rack's 2026 snow compilation it shared a joint-third snow rating (subjective snow handling 3/30, +6%).

The repeated exception is true winter straight-line performance, particularly in snow traction and snow braking, where it is frequently last or in the lower third versus its class/field. In the 2026 all-terrain mega-test it was last across the main snow disciplines (8/8 in snow braking, +23.9%; 8/8 in snow traction, +37.8%; 8/8 in snow handling, +9.7%) and also last for straight aquaplaning (8/8, +9.8%), with the tester advising it only if dry stopping and general all-terrain use matter more than wet/winter. The Falken Wildpeak AT4W had a difficult test. Its best result was dry braking, where it was the best of the non-Pirelli group, though still well behind the leading pair. Dirt performance was acceptable rather than front-running, and comfort and noise sat around the middle of the group. The major weaknesses were in wet and snow conditions: it was last in straight aquaplaning, last in snow braking, snow traction and snow handling, and wet handling was also clearly off the leaders. I'd only look at it here if dry-road stopping and general all-terrain use mattered more than winter and wet performance.

The Falken Wildpeak AT4W. finishes a disappointing last place. We've now seen in multiple tests that the LT version at least, has given up some snow performance to get that improved wear resistance over the AT3W. This means it is the only tyre of this test I would not rush to use in the winter, but I plan to test all of these and more in the dry, wet and offroad next year, I'm I'm sure the AT4W will shine there.
