The BFGoodrich KO3 continues the brand’s legacy of being a benchmark in the all-terrain category. It impresses with excellent road manners, combining low noise with class-leading comfort over larger impacts, making it a very easy tyre to live with day to day. Off-road, it delivers superb traction and durability across sand, gravel, and rock, with its robust construction shrugging off harsh terrain. However, the KO3’s steering can feel slower to react both on and off-road, and it requires more input to correct when unsettled, which may leave more enthusiastic drivers wanting a touch more precision. Still, it remains a dependable and highly capable all-rounder.
In fourth place is the BFgoodrich All Terrain KO3. Now, this is one of those results where score weighting really matters. The KO3 Is a VERY strong tyre in the snow, essentially drawing with the Nokian, so if you really don't care about ice it's top 2, and if all you care about is snow traction, it is the best. But with this score weighting, which includes ice as 25% of the overall result, that drops it down in this close group.

Recommended 2025 AT Snow Test BFGoodrich All Terrain TA KO3
The BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 occupies the middle ground and, subjectively, does it very well. It combines surprisingly low noise levels and good comfort with a heavy-duty, three-ply sidewall construction that inspires confidence for serious off-road abuse. Its traction and braking off-road are excellent. Wet grip appears to be its weakest area based on available data, and its snow performance may be hampered in icier conditions, but in climates with distinct dry and snow seasons - such as Utah - the KO3's blend of on-road manners, off-road toughness, and winter capability makes it a compelling all-rounder that remains the TyreReviews reference all-terrain tyre.

Given 88% while driving a Chevrolet silverado 1500 (275/65 R18) on mostly country roads for 1,000 spirited miles
Much better than the factory Goodyear Duratrac regarding road noise and road comfort. The dry grip is better on roads. Has not rained enough here since I got them to provide a comprehensive review of wet traction but the one or two times they performed well. We will see what this winter brings regarding ice and snow traction. Hopefully I will be able this review after I get firewood on rough muddy / snow mountain forest service roads and after I drive it on our very icy winter roads. Here in Wyoming the DOT uses a sand, gravel mix with a little bit of salt because salt doesn't work below zero. Hopefully this tires increased silica content and siping will perform as well as my old KO2's.

Given 92% while driving a Ram Ram 2500 Power Wagon (315/70 R17) on a combination of roads for 25,000 average miles
Wonderful product and great tires. Only issue I really had was balancing issues consistently. I had to have multiple tires replaced because they just would not stop wobbling. After a bit I gave up and replaced them with another brand. Made me sad that I could not get a good set to balance up for me.

Fantastic Jack-of-All-Trades tire. Throw pretty much anything at it but ice and it will pull through with ease. Works great on-road and excellent off-road (Remember to air down!). Balances well for such a heavy 10 ply tire. Ware is reasonable, just remember to rotate often and you should get close to the rated tread life (unless you tow heavy, then say goodbye to that rear tread much sooner)

Given 87% while driving a Lexus Gx470 (285/70 R17) on for 8,000 miles
They took everything that I didn’t like about the KO2… noise, harshness, poor hydroplane resistance… and fixed it. The KO3 is an improvement and is a nice addition to my lifted GX470. The on-center steering is acceptable for a truck but not nimble like my Toyo ATIII. The BFG does have good handling but it feels a little slower to change direction than the Toyo. However, this thing takes the cake for braking performance… snow/dirt/street, it stops well everywhere no matter the conditions. Of course it can’t hang with a winter tire on ice because no A/T can. But, it’s a top tier choice of tire. I’m going to put the same size on LRC on my Tacoma.

Given 80% while driving a Lexus Gx470 (225/45 R17) on for 8,000 miles
I've had them all on my Toyota truck/suv over the years... BFG KO, KO2, KO3, Toyo AT3, Yokohama GO15, Michelin AT2, etc...

The KO3 is a top tier tire with great technology. The ride is significantly improved over the KO2 in both noise and comfort (the E-rated tire does very well on my GX470). The ONLY two complaints (minor) are 1) steering is slower and definitely makes it feel like a truck. 2) Ice traction is the same... NOT a winter tire... in spite of the newest rubber technology they still haven't improved the ice stopping in spite of the improvements on packed snow and wet roads.

IF you drive more in the rain, get the Toyo AT3... I've never had a better rugged AT tire than this one for keeping the truck tracking straight when you suddenly encounter a deep puddle on the freeway... it doesn't jerk the steering wheel and make you panic like the KO2 did for me. The Toyo and new BFG are hard to discern any major real world differences in snowy roads (when new). We'll see how the full depth siping helps this new BFG over the years... If you want a less rugged looking tire there's plenty of more on-road oriented tires that will handle well in the wet... this isn't my category so I don't typically buy those tires.

Initial Impressions Review
Given 84% while driving a Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van (235/65 R16) on for 3,000 miles
Pretty solid tires. Better than the Cooper ATs that I had on there before. Both were good all-season options. They were both good in snow. Ice wasn't great but chains helped out in that case.

Given 90% while driving a Ford F 150 (275/65 R20) on for 200 miles
2021 F150, leveled with Eibach pro truck stage 2 kit. Honestly it’s early to put up a review with 200-300 miles driven but my initial impression are 100% better then I expected. The truck came with new Bridgestone Alenza 275/55/20 and worn out stock shocks at 62k miles. I put the coilovers on for about 10k miles and rather enjoyed the ride. I was cautious about going from SL to E rated tires. Luckily the KO3s have gone far past my expectations.
Very quiet, almost as quiet as the Bridgestones and not intrusive at all in cabin.
The ride is amazing and better than the Bridgestones. Only one area of my daily 100 mile round trip commute is worse than ride comfort wise than the Bridgestones but it’s a totally shyt section of road in New Orleans area. I drive the causeway (23.8 miles bridge) and the ride is better on the KO3s.

I was debating between KO3s and XTM ATs after watching the review on this site. Well, there is a reason Jonathan says the KO3 is the standard.

I’ll post again as they wear.

These are the OE tires on a Ranger Raptor. Wear has been surprisingly good, and they're very good in snow.

I run Nokian HAKKAPELIITTA 10 SUV STUDDED on my 2024 Ford F150 beginning around mid November. We get a lot of snow in my area so I prefer a dedicated winter tire.
I remove my winter studded tires when the roads lose their layer of packed snow. Last winter I had the dealer pull them off early and install the BFG KO3 that are 10 ply( not what I wanted 6ply BFG still hadn’t made them) and we got hit with several snow falls leading into spring.
The KO3’S handled the snow, packed snow and ice extremely well and far better than the KO2 that were terrible in packed snow and ice. I noticed as well that the KO3 was way better on wet than the KO2 which was terrible. The KO2’s spin on acceleration on wet pavement and rounding wet corners!
The KO3 seems to have corrected that deficiency. Would I run the KO3 all winter if I didn’t have a dedicated winter tire like the Nokians and I had to. Yes I would but my driving technique would have to change for sure!
Like many others have stated you just can’t beat a dedicated winter tire in regions that receive a lot of snow. We had over 18’ of snowfall last winter!

Given 20% while driving a Ram 3500 (235/80 R17) on a combination of roads for 500 miles
This is the worst product that BF Goodrich has ever produced. They are impossible to balance and the road wobble because of that is extremely unpleasant. Road force testing was consistently over 100. Tried replacing and still the same issues. Hard to believe that the company has not recalled these tires.

While there are some individual notes of balance issues, I have tested about 10 sets of these now and never had a problem balancing. Infact, my current set weren't even balanced at all (I was in a rush and thought I'd balance them later) and they're almost fine without weights. Sounds like your tyres might be out of round, it's worth contacting BFG about a warranty replacement.
