Owners rate the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 highly overall (83% average), with the vast majority praising its strong grip in both dry and wet conditions and a confident, sporty feel. Comfort also comes through as a real strength for a UHP tyre, and many report crisp steering and stable handling. The main reservations are more mixed: around two in five owners mention tread life and road noise, with experiences varying from excellent longevity and refinement to faster wear and a noisier ride, while a smaller group note reduced cold-weather grip.

Having had budgets at front and pirelli cinterato p7 at the back when I brought the car, I would have just changed fronts to pirelli as they are a branded tyre but the ride was too hard and wasn't very sporty for my driving style. I like confidence inspiring tyres as I can imagine running late on a very wet motorway and having confidence to push ahead. Probably because I also came from an audi rs4 b7 to a sharan lol so wanted good tyres. I searched for 3 months using tyrereviews website and videos. I ended up settling for the goodyear Eagle f1 ass 5s all round. So what do I think. When I had them delivered them the rubber was very sticky which is a good thing as the description mentions "extra silica load" as soon as they were fitted and I put my food down I had wheel spin and was shocked but then I left them to run in and now its much better for a front wheel drive. Or I could say damaging to the car as there is a hell of a lot of grip and car is trying to push along and the grip is keeping tyres from spinning which puts pressure on the clutch not to mention lateral grip around bends is a lot and feels like I may be braking the car as if the body is twisting around a fast roundabout and the grip is all on the road. I feel the tyres are too good for the car lol.
Now the not so nice bits. Firsty I noticed a 5mpg drop in fuel economy which is pretty bad. Also the steering isn't very sporty and precise and pointy as I wanted. Shame conti sport contact 6 aren't in 18" as I had these tyres on my rs4 in 19" and liked the pointy sharp steering unless its the car thats at fault. The active braking technology that according to the goodyear advert says that the rubber expands in the road when braking to increase rubber to road contact, not sure but I definitely don't feel a better stopping wheras I did with the red chilli technology on the contis again it could be the car. I would recommend the tyre for confidence driving when going fast but if you are not a fast driver then any good tyre will work for you on a vw sharan I wouldn't recommend it for better mpg though. Minimal road noise. Road imperfections are medium as you still feel bumps but a little rounded just like tyrereviews said, sort of in the middle of the range in that regard but better than the pirellis I replaced which when you run your hand over the tread feels quite plasticky and the goodyear definitely rubbery which is a good thing. My only other gripe is that the asymmetric design i.e. each rib along the tread pattern is felt in the steering as you turn and feels a bit spongy, maybe its because its new and thicker tread but again when i had conti sport contact 6 on my rs4 it felt superior from new. Overall I would probably try a continental sport contact tyre next.
Had to get rims refurbed but keep car on road. Bought two extra rims with reasonable tyres on from other well known brand, and used them as extras while mine went away 2 at a time for refurb. Today I drove back from the tyre fitters with two new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 tyres to pair with the existing F1 Asymmetric 3. It was like having my old car back , everything I liked returned. Handling ride and precise but comfortable feel. The other brand pair on the front made me feel something was not right . I like the low noise too as I drive a convertible.
Check out how the BEST all seasons tyres perform against premium summer and winter tyres!
Comfortable and sporty. These tyres round off bumps well yet feel good in the corners. Immense grip too even in the wet. The car feels well supported, I previously had Continental Eco contact 6 and these feel noticeably better, a plusher feel. Very impressed so far.
Which tyres do you drive?

Hands down the best tyres i have ever used. The grip is just insane in both the dry and the wet. The confidence they grant you in the corners is incredible. Not much road noise either. They do appear to wear slightly faster than my previous set of falkens but not excessive by any means and i do drive them hard.
The only problem is that ive been spoilt by these tyres and now i dont think i could go for anything less!
They are slightly more expensive than most tyres but absolutely worth every penny in my opinion!

Changed all 4 corners 18 " 225/45 front , 245/40 rear.
Previously had GY assy 3, a very good tyre generally but at speed had a tendency to drift due to its softer sidewall, especially in corners and sharp bends.
On the 5 Goodyear have used advanced materials to reduce the flex in the Tread which (they claim) has resulted in a crisp precise turn-in. I'm pleased to say its true. I've noticed a marked improvement in steering input and overall handling dynamics.
The tyres are comfortable, smooth and absorb road imperfections well. In the wet the car feels safe and stable, no aquaplaning, water is displaced rapidly from the treads. In my opinion GY are the best in the wet category for UHP summer tyres and now with the much improved handling and steering response it was an easy choice.
All in all a darn good tyre for maximizing performance 8-9 months of the year. Covered only 5000 miles since last Nov (due to covid 19) and wear is minimal, longevity looks promising. I would most certainly buy again.
As with all UHP tyres they are lethal in ice and snow and feel a little harsh in sub zero temps. Winter tyres are a must.
great tyre but by god they are noisy..like seriously noisy, completely ruins the whole experience as the perform brilliantly, if they weren't so expensive I'd have them straight off the car
Bought these for fast road and has always delivered and really feels just as comfy as any standard premium tyre. Had these on track recently at llandow which is a tight technical track that can easily overheat tyres, was in a standard 200 hp golf gti and frankly they felt very surprisingly consistent only on one or 2 occasions did i feel them to overheat and then it was very progressive and just a required a couple cool down laps. Overall if you want a good daily tyre then get them, if you do the occasional track day as well like me and you don't have anything any more powerful or track focused than me they will still manage fine on track if needed.
I have a 2014 Audi A3 2.0tdi sedan and I bought it used with rather worn Pirelli P7 cinturato. I got a great deal on these GY F1 Asymmetric 5s and decided on a more sporty tyre for what's not a really sporty car. I immediately noticed that the Asymmetric 5s were smoother than the P7 Cinturato. I liked their bite and grip, and they allow the car to be hustled more. Good wet grip and I don't get the wihhle and incipient aquaplaning I've had on Conti and Bridgestone or Pirelli. They are a little. More noisy than the P7s but I can live with that. Highly recommended.
I've used this on a precious performance car and the grip during downpour is as good as the dry warm summer days. Instant response when turning and comfort is improved. I previously used pilot sport 4 which is also an amazing tyre but these bear them marginally and 2/3 the price makes it a no brainer.
A great tyre all round and I decided to replace the OEM Bridgestone Potenza that had badly cracked on the tread of each tyre. I’d previously had an Asymmetric 2 on my BMW Z4 and had no reservation in selecting the latest Asymmetric 5 as my replacement on my Mazda MX-5
I’ve decided to switch from Pirelli P Zero to Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 5. I was considering Michelin PS4S. But due to the price differences, I’ve decided to go with Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 5. I feel more confident driving through corners in wet and dry road conditions. Overall, it is an excellent tyres. I would highly recommend recommend this tyres for those whom are looking for performance and comfort.
