The Gripmax SureGrip Pro Winter is an economy touring winter tyre with large wet-braking gaps to the leaders in two tests. Snow braking was closer to the best result in its one recorded assessment, but the evidence is too narrow to establish a clear all-round strength.
The Gripmax SureGrip Pro Winter is less convincing for wet stopping than its winter designation alone might suggest. In two independent Auto Bild braking comparisons, its wet-braking distance was 29.3% and 23.6% from best. Its relative position was much better in the 2026 test, at 23rd of 50 for wet braking and 25th overall, compared with 46th of 54 in 2023. Both still leave a substantial gap to the leaders.
Snow braking was closer in 2026, with a 29.8 m stop only 3.1% from best, although it ranked 20th of 30. This is a less pronounced limitation than wet braking, rather than an established snow strength. The tests used different sizes, 225/45 R18 and 245/45 R19, so the similar wet-stopping distances should not be treated as directly comparable. With only braking assessments and no owner-review summary, handling, comfort, tread life and ice performance remain unestablished. The stronger recent placing does not remove the recurring wet-braking concern.
