Passenger Car Winter Touring Tyres Tyre Review Highlights

Marshal i Zen MW15 rated 90% while driving a Honda CRV
Driving on mostly motorways for 0 average miles
All excellent, comparable to lower grade Michelin tires - NO NOISE while driving, good soft feeling on the road, fast stop if needed !
Definitive, buy again, no reserve !

Falken Winterpeak F Ice 1 rated 81% while driving a Mazda cx5
Driving on mostly country roads for 17 average miles
I live in northern NJ travel to upstate NY daily 43 mile up in Catskill mountains. It is about 7 miles from my door to High Point Mountain 1250 feet on a one lane each way winding state park road up down then travel on another one lane road 209 through mostly woods to reach route 17 travel 8 miles on a three lane highway up Wurtsboro Mountain where most are driving to fast in bad winter conditions and arrive at my parking space 1650 feet above sea level. These tires have served me very well snow, icy slushy roads, high winds , we get it all and often. I drive a 2023 Mazda CX5 AWD and leave these on all year round do just fine in the dry long trips loaded to the beach although a little more gas, ride is OK I came from a very comfy 2016 Accord so if the Mazda was riding poorly with these I would share it. At this price point I will run two winters ( I drive 20 K miles a year) and get another set as it's 100 $ to put my other tires back on in spring repeat in fall. Paid $528.00 for four. Oh had them rotated (directional tire) after a year very little wear defiantly getting two years, I buy new tires before I should like to have good rubber on my car always.

Fulda Kristall Montero 3 rated 54% while driving a Renault Clio IV 1.2 Tce
Driving on mostly town for 10000 average miles
Very bad handling, car looses touch when in corners. Good on dry, bad on wet roads. Got them new on my Clio. Wouldn’t by them again. Poor even with my 1.2 engine. Understeering on wet is often.

Tigar Winter 1 rated 82% while driving a Fiat Fiat Punto 1.9 JTD
Driving on mostly town for 20000 average miles
I had these tyres for four years on Fiat Punto. They proved to be reliable, versatile and surprisingly long lasting. Probably they are underrated, but it is a Michelin technology tyre manufactured in Europe. There are better tyres, but not for this little money.

Viking Wintech rated 68% while driving a Volkswagen Polo 1.2 12V
Driving on mostly town for 7000 easy going miles
Fairly good tires but very noisy. If you can get by the noise then they are fine, but it's a big if.

Fortuna Fortuna Winter rated 53% while driving a Hyundai Santa Fe
Driving on mostly town for 15000 easy going miles
Installed them on my Santa Fe, they are heavy and noisy and the fuel consumption went up the roof. Decent in snow but they overall feel heavy.

RoadX RXFROST WH01 rated 36% while driving a Skoda Octavia
Driving on a combination of roads for 250 spirited miles
Worst winter tyres I've ever had

Kleber Krisalp HP3 rated 78% while driving a Volvo s60 D5 (163)
Driving on mostly country roads for 400 average miles
Not a bad tyre, it handles pretty good difficult conditions

Triangle Snowlink PL01 rated 90% while driving a Skoda Octavia estate
Driving on a combination of roads for 300 easy going miles
Installed the tyres few weeks ago. Well, they haven't killed me yet. Quite contrary - I feel they are nice and comfortable tyres on wet and dry asphalt. Very soft and smooth and the car feels very eager to roll along. No noticeable fuel economy change compared to summer tyres.
Granted, I have yet to see any snow or ice with them, but I'm fairly certain I will survive the winter.
Will report back once winter is done. Initial phase is promising.

Altenzo Sports Tempest I rated 71% while driving a BMW 320 d
Driving on mostly motorways for 15000 easy going miles
These tyres are not for driving in more than 10+ celsius, they get wery soft and handling is bad. And under -20 celsius they getting too hard. But overall in snow they are very good. Probably the best snow tyres at that price range. Now it's 3rd year after 15000 driven and they still have more than 7mm left, but 3 years is max with any budget winter tyres, than they get hard and don't do the job as they should.
I would definetly buy again, they are good for wather in my country and my driving style.

Nereus NS805 Plus rated 90% while driving a BMW 318D
Driving on mostly town for 25000 spirited miles
Great tires compared to michelin alipin 5. Both tyres served perfectly for 2 seasons, but i don't recommend using them in the 3rd season. I recommend these tires. Price and quality is very good.

Winrun Winter Max S1 WR60 rated 29% while driving a Daewoo Leganza
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 easy going miles
Previous tyres were Toyo's which were replaced by Toyo's Observer Ice freezer and I bought a pair of Winrun's for the rear. I am aware that its not recommended
to mix tyres from different brands but until the winrun's I had no issues for the past 30 years. During a sudden snowstorm in Tallinn Estonia I was forced to put the Toyo's on the front and keep my summer Vredestein's on the back to get home. I was amazed with the Toyo's and very pleased.

Then the studded Winrun's were mounted at the rear axl. Up to 80km/hr there was nothing really noticeable. But as soon I hit 100km/hr the car started to move all directions and I was terrified I was loosing control. The road was only WET! No ice or snow yet. I really thought that there was something wrong with stabilizers or suspension but during a check there was nothing found.

I put the winrun's on the front and at least the car was drivable. Nevertheless I could now determine the shortcomings of this tyre. Both on the wet and dry they loose grip so easily in turns. Not to mention in ice or snowy conditions. I never had such negative experience with a winter tyre before.

I cannot write about the wear rate. One winter was enough.
