Passenger Car Winter Touring Tyres Tyre Review Highlights

Petlas Snow Master W651 rated 53% while driving a Ford Cmax
Driving on mostly country roads for 10000 average miles
Acceptable on dry roads. Very dangerous on wet. Worst tyre ever driven.

Debica Frigo 2 rated 44% while driving a Opel astra g caravan
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 easy going miles
Noisy, low grip in wet, good grip in snow, when they were new.

Toyo OBSERVE GSI 6 HP rated 79% while driving a Hyundai ix35
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
Overall good winter tyres. Pretty good on dry and wet road at autumn temps taking into account these are winter tyres. Slightly blurred "zero" steering position at town speeds. Tyres of this size have rim protector which not every tire has and sidewall is moderately stiff. Snow pull is good to excellent. Handling on ice and mixed snow/ice is very stable while feedback is exceptional. You can definetely say when where tyres will start to slip. Ice grip is great for friction winter tyres. Overall feeling is better than more expensive Nokian Hakkapellitta R2.

Avon Ice Touring rated NAN% while driving a Volkswagen Polo 1.4 16v
Driving on mostly country roads for 0 average miles
I’ve had these tyres on my polo 6n2. The car hasn’t got the best handling, a lot of under steer and body roll but since I had these Avon ice tyres fitted the car straight away felt different to drive. Good grip and very good on wet surface also the tyres lasted for ages. I would give it 8 out of 10 would definitely recommend but if you want the best winter/all season tyres go for uniroyals rain sport 3 that have been developed by continental and Michelin they’re top tier

Nexen WinGuard Sport 2 rated 68% while driving a BMW 328ci
Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 average miles
bought several years ago when they appeared on market. Went eggy after 1 winter. 1st winter was ok, ant the beginning of 2nd i noticed smth wrong, 3rd was really annoying to drive. several balancing did not helped, checked rims, rims were ok, tested. now i see people write same comments. so, do not buy ;)

Goodride SW608 rated 36% while driving a Mercedes Benz CLK 270 CDI
Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 average miles
Bought these in the hopes of positive reviews read on here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE at all for anyone actually living in snowy climates, these would only make sense for people who get snow a few days a year and are on a budget. The DOTs were new, the rear ones were made in 2019 and front ones 2020. Grip on snow is almost non existant, if there was even the slightest hint of a hill you always had to think whether you have enough speed and momentum to get up the mountain. Grip on dry and wet condtions is okay - nothing to boast about, but will do the job for regular street cars. The front tires still look almost new, while the rear ones are almost non existent - less than 2mm of thread. (This is probably because of spirited driving/snow drifting, but something to consider still) Overall - buy only if you get snow a couple of days in a year and are on a budget!

Premiorri ViaMaggiore rated 60% while driving a SEAT Leon
Driving on mostly town for 1000 average miles
On the dry roads the car handling is ok , on hard brakes the tires are a little bit slippy but safe , but on the wet roads they are horror i have a 1.6 l engine on petrol with 102 hp , the cars is feeling like a 700 hp beast , the wheels spinning every time i go from the red light , when i turn a little bit more agressive the back of the car almost spinning around , are not safe for a driver who wants to have some pleasure moments with his car and the noise of the tire is like you have all the wheelbearings broke down. I'm not recomanded this tires.

Firestone Winterhawk 3 rated 48% while driving a Ford Focus MK3
Driving on a combination of roads for 4000 average miles
Got them as a used set of four. All same age - 2 years. The previous driver seemed to be an honest person. So nothing to say about that. I was used to having Uniroyals on my previous car. No comparison to them. In dry and wet conditions the tyres are quite all right, but last winter luckily gave us a bit of slush and snow. The car behaved not good. Steering wasn't put through to the road. I'll buy a pair of new ones soon. It'll not be the Winterhawk 3 again.

Novex Snow Speed 3 rated 70% while driving a Honda Civic Diesel
Driving on mostly town for 0 spirited miles
Bought 3 X Novex Superspeed tires - On 2003 Honda Accord (190 PS), on 2007 BMW 120d (177 PS) and, now, on Honda Civic 22. diesel (180 PS) I mentioned engine power to emphasize the fact that Novex are very good in terms of handling and roadholding. Plus, no road noise and tires are very comfortable. The only minus is poor wet grip, obviously common "chinese" problem.

Mastersteel Steel Winter Plus rated 98% while driving a Citroën C5 Estate
Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 spirited miles
I was deeply impressed with these tires even though cheap they worked wonders on my Citroën C5. They have a ready grip that detaches up to the ice .. I was buried in a meter of snow and with the size 205/65 R15 I came out like nothing .. Other than Nokian or other premium tires. I am sorry that these tires are no longer available on the market. I would buy them with my eyes closed .. They are incredibly strong on snow, ice and rainy roads .. I can't just say WOW!
