Hankook Winter i cept RS2 Owner Reviews

Review this tyre

What owners say summarised from 44 reviews

Drivers generally rate the Hankook Winter i*cept RS2 highly, highlighting strong wet-road grip and excellent aquaplaning resistance, with many also reporting confident performance in snow and slush for everyday winter use. Value for money is a consistent theme, and several long-term users note good wear and durability. A recurring downside is elevated road noise (often more noticeable at highway speeds), and a smaller subset report a firmer ride or less sporty/precise dry handling, with occasional concerns about traction on black ice.

This is an update of my previous review. I've added some extra miles to the tyres (around 800) in real winter conditions. They are excellent on slush as far as grip is concerned. However, snow grip is average. Worst still, ice grip is rather disappointing, but that's acceptabile for non-stud winter tyres. Overall impression is good, though I would reccommend these tyres for milder climate, where snow is not present full time over the winter season.

These tyres were not my first option as I was looking for Nokian WR D4 (which were up for delivery only by the end of November).
Dry grip on Hankook was a bit disappointing at first until they started to break-in. 1000 miles later, dry grip seems to have improved.
Wet grip has been good right from the start.
I haven't had the chance to test them on snow yet.
Noise level is a bit on the high side even at lower speed.
Overall, I am happy with the choice I've made.

Great winter tire for a very good price. Highly recomended for small to medium vehicles. Suites for more asphalt driving than snow, but it still handles the slush and snow very well.
Definately will buy again.

Very good tires for the price. The front pair lasted 2 winters (2016 and 2017) and the back pair will do another winter (2018), totaling 3 winters for the back pair.

The reaction of the tyres in wet and dry roads is satisfactory. Especially it is very good on dry roads. Comparing with the previous tyres, handling capabilities decreases with the speed increases. I have no chance to test them in ice and snow yet.

On a 2004 W168, these are soft, easy to drive, have just enough feedback but are not a sport tyre. They grip very well in snow and have excellent traction off the line, as well as reasonably good brake performance. They are not as good in turns, but are in no way bad either. On wet they offer very reasonable performance and are very good at braking. They are worth well over their price tag and considering the quality of other tyres in the same range, the Hankooks are the winner.

Very good traction and braking distance on wet and dry surfaces on a Dacia Logan PH1 without ABS or ESP.
Hardly no wear after driving 5600 km (~3500 miles) mainly on motorways and cities.
The only downside is that they are pretty noisy after 110 kmh (~60 mph).
