Goodyear Assurance MaxLife 2

The Goodyear Assurance MaxLife 2 is an all-season touring tyre with a comfortable, quiet ride and competitive dry and wet handling. Snow braking and traction are its main weaknesses, and its relaxed steering is less suited to drivers seeking quick responses.

The BEST High Mileage All Season Tyres in 2026 Tested P3 of 5

The Goodyear Assurance MaxLife 2 finished third and is the most relaxed tyre in this test. It was second only to the Continental in wet braking, wet handling and dry handling, shared the highest comfort score, and was my pick for subjective noise across the surfaces I drove. It is the least sporty of the five, slower to react and slower to build turning force, but its mid-corner grip and stability in the wet were excellent and it carried on where other tyres were skating through standing water. The problem is snow, where it was last in both braking and traction. If you want comfort and wet security and you do not see real winter weather, it is an excellent tyre.

Initial Impressions

They are decently smooth and quiet for a long-tread-life tire. No bumps feel jarring, and they round off the peak of sharper bumps. However, the deep, rigid tread does transmit some noise from coarse surfaces and road texture/vibrations into the floorboards of the cabin, but nothing drastic. These tires also feel a little bit squirmish but still easily controllable, but that squirmish will probably go away as the tread becomes more shallow. I've had these tires for ~3,000miles or so, and the tread still looks nice and new. Some things to note: when the tires are cold, they don't feel as plush, and these tires could be more efficient; my mpg dropped by ~4 mpg compared to my OEM Hankook Kinergy GT tires. These Goodyear tires are quieter and smoother than the original Hankooks by a noticeable margin.
