Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 Reviews - Page 30

Given 100% while driving a Lexus IS200 (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 2,500 spirited miles
I brought these on reccomendation and was immediately very impressed with grip in both Wet & Dry conditions. When pushing the car on roundabouts and tight bends the tyres stick to the road like glue. Really impressed with them and definately notice a quieter road noise compared to my previous Bridgestones Potenza's. Highly recommened.

Given 97% while driving a Honda S2000 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
I fitted these to my Honda S2000 and the big difference compared to the Bridgestones they replaced is comfort. Rather than crashing through even the smallest pothole the ride is noticably more better. The grip is as good / better - yet to see how long they last, but assuming they don't fall apart I will be buying these again.

After reading the positive comments from this forum, I decided to try these new F! Assy 2. I have always been a Michelin Pilot Sport fan but we all know that although a great tyre, the cost is a major prohibitive factor. Anyway after doing only about 25,000 on the PS2, I decided to try something else, apart from Michelin or Continental. Tried the Dunlop Sportmaxx but the ride was a bit harsh. Had two bad experiences with Pirellis so would not touch them ever again.

These newF! Assy 2 are great!! I just got them fitted today and being new, they are superb to drive on. The ride comfort is excellent and despite it being wet today, the grip was very good. The reason I did not use the word excellent was because the guy told me new tyres have a protective layer over them which would take some time to break into. I ll wait till I have done about 1000 kms before I comment on them again.

But so far, I am very happy with them.

Thank you guys for all your help and feedback. Really appreciate them.

Hopefully, i have found a Michelin Pilot Sport alternative..

Cheers

Given 100% while driving a Volvo V70 D5 165bhp (03) (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 10,000 spirited miles
superb, unflappable, utterly faultless.
I get such good feedback and progression in dry and drenched roads, and after 10K there is hardly any sign of wear.

I think it may be black magic.

Given 97% while driving a Volkswagen MK4 GOLF ANNIVERSARY PD 200 (225/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 2,000 spirited miles
Great tyres suit the anniversay with uprated eibach suspension very well,Great grip from new in wet and dry, great wear, low road noise and good economy. In my opinion far better than the Pilot Sport 1's that the golf rolled out the factory on.Approx 5mm rim protection too and around £30 per tyre cheaper than the Pilot Sports.Have no trouble dealing with my 200bhp/300ft soot chucker. Will buy again for sure.

Given 93% while driving a BMW Z4 (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 4,000 spirited miles
These have replaced previous Goodyear F1 Asymetrics. Feel very similar in both wet and dry which means very good, however they seem to have improved in three key areas: 1) The treadwear index is now 300 against previous 240 which suggests that you should get 25% more miles out of them, 2) they are quieter 3) the biggest improvement ride comfort - the original F1s were good in this respect, these are fantastic!

Given 96% while driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X (245/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
Have only covered about 500 miles in these tyres so far, so just about scrubbed in. Changed out the original Yokohama Advan A13 tyres which managed to get 12000 miles out of. The grip levels I would say are on par with the yokohamas and with AWD I like to get the most out of high speed corners and roundabouts although not tried during the wet yet. The Goodyear's have very low noise levels at normal and high speeds, the car feels allot more planted now with little or none tramlining so already a better buy than the yokohamas and at about £160 a corner, fitted at Elite Tyres in Essex, it's a no brainer.
I will update this review once a few more miles are on the treads but its all thumbs up from me here at the moment, very pleased.

Given 100% while driving a Volkswagen GTi Mk6 (225/40 R18 W) on mostly motorways for 1,000 spirited miles
This is a huge improvement over my old Continental Sport contact 2. The dry grip is phenomenal and I came across heavy rain while driving on the motorway at high speed (160km/h+), but the feeling was the same as if the car was glued to the road. You may think this tire will impact the fuel consumption with its "sticking" feel, but I got an average of 0.5-0.7 lt/100KMs less at average speeds (90-130km/h). The tire also feels soft and very quite, yet it is very direct in the steering and extremely progressive. On spirited drive and high turns, I feel the suspension works more as the tire stays true to the road and after one year I finally stoped seeing the ESP light go on and I can use my Normal and Sport mode in my electronic suspension (DCC) without being afraid or feel discomfort. All 4 corners are glued to the road, period. Maybe an overkill for my GTi which has been transformed from a funny all around sporty car to a high performance vehicle ( I feel I need more power now to make it spin or twist. Lastly, this tire takes minutes to warm up in normal driving. As for wear and comfort I will write again at around 5,000miles (I know my views and comments are very biased in comparison to worn/ dryed Contis 2...)

Given 100% while driving a BMW 335d (255/35 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 2,000 spirited miles
Very rare but managed to buy a full set to replace the worn Michelin PS2s. OMG! So much better and so silent. With no doubt this is the best tyre out the nowadays.

Given 97% while driving a Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 TDI (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 3,000 average miles
Great tyres. Super good handling both on wet and dry. The car is very responsive (better than my old ContiSport3), and very very silent.
Don't know much about the wear yet, but after 2000 miles I can say they're barely touched.
