I have been reviewing these tires to replace 4 yr old Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires. With only 25,000KM the CrossClimate 2 have become quite rough and road noise has increased to the point that I am looking for a change even with their really good reviews. My concern is your report of weak hydroplaning on a curve putting the Scorpion WeatherActive in 6th place of your 7 tire review.
Overall I am very interested in this tire. Can you give me your comments based on your review on how you think this tire would perform on a rainy very wet day on a high speed highway, travelling at a standard speed of 119km/hr, both on the straight and the problem curve.

Too many variables to give a good answer, water depth has a huge impact, sorry. It might be worth checking out the TireRack tests of this tyre to see what they think.

These tires were on the vehicle when we bought it and were fairly new. We are dedicated Michelin and/or Nokian users for 20 years. I find these tires to be rough riding in comparison. They make me very uncomfortable driving on ice as the vehicle seems to be swaying and on the verge of losing control. For that reason alone I would not consider buying again.

I have only had the tires for about 2 weeks now, but they are amazing compared to the previous tires that were installed (Hankook Kinergy ST). I would almost liken it to being "glued" to the road. Dry grip is great especially on colder roads, I am still waiting for the snow to melt here to determine wet grip. Generally I feel slightly more isolated from the road, as the in-car noise is quite a bit lower than my previous tires, along with seeing about a 15% increase in fuel economy, which was surprising given the increased tread depth compared to my previous tires. I was not overly concerned about snow/ice grip as I was initially planning on purchasing a separate set of winter wheels/tires but with the performance of these tires I may not have to. I cannot speak to the wear on the tires as I have only put on about 1000 miles since install, but with a 60,000 mile tread-wear warranty I would imagine they will have a decent wear rate.

In heavy rain, they tend to drag causing drivers to use more gas to get through which could be a major gas mileage issue for people living in areas where it rains a lot! Ice grip is great because it feels like driving in dry conditions most of the time (at least at low speeds)! They don't corner quite as well as Goodyear Eagle LS tires that originally came with my CUV (even though they are supposed to be V speed rated) but they do grip better in colder weather and the overall ride is a little smoother and quieter than the Goodyears too as well as a 60,000 mile warranty whereas the Goodyears had no warranty at all! One thing that both have in common is they have sharp steering feel so straight line driving is pleasant with both but the Pirellis do feel a little lighter when turning which could be a plus for people with arthritic hands!
