Yokohama iceGUARD iG52c
The Yokohama iceGUARD iG52c is a studless Nordic winter tyre with good snow handling and braking on ice in its single independent test. Weak wet braking and handling, together with noise, limit its overall result.
The Yokohama iceGUARD iG52c has a clear winter-surface strength in the 2020 Consumer Reports North America Winter Tyre Test. Snow handling and braking on ice both earned Excellent ratings, giving it a more favourable verdict on those surfaces than its overall placing suggests. It is a studless Nordic winter tyre, and these are the conditions in which that single comparison found its strongest qualities.
Wet braking and wet handling were both rated Poor and described as being at the bottom of the field. The tester also found it loud, and it finished 14th of 17 overall. That leaves a substantial compromise for driving that includes wet roads, despite the favourable snow and ice ratings. With only one independent comparison, the record does not establish how consistently it performs across different tests or how it wears in everyday use.
