Conclusion
Continental PremiumContact 7 is the stronger choice for grip across these shared tests. It finished first in all three, with the Bridgestone Turanza T005 third each time. Continental stopped about 13% shorter in the wet in Motor's 2023 test and about 10% shorter in Tyre Reviews' 2023 touring test. Its lead narrowed to about 3% in Sport Auto's 2024 test, but never reversed. Wet handling was also quicker in every test, by roughly 1% to 2%, and testers praised Continental's wet control and steering precision.
On dry roads, Continental was quicker in handling in all three tests, though the measured gaps were modest. It stopped about 2% to 3% shorter in Sport Auto and Motor; in Tyre Reviews, the dry braking distances were effectively identical. Bridgestone remained a strong third overall each time. Motor called it stable and precise, while Sport Auto noted good grip and rolling comfort. Sport Auto also found its rear axle more sensitive to load changes at the limit, whereas it described Continental as balanced, with a minor rear-axle comfort compromise. The Bridgestone in that test was the AO-marked version optimised for the Audi A1.
Bridgestone's consistent advantage is rolling resistance: it measured lower in all three tests, with a particularly marked gap in both 2023 tests. Tyre Reviews rated its comfort slightly higher. It also had a small straight-line aquaplaning lead in two tests, though Motor narrowly favoured Continental, and Sport Auto found a clearer Continental advantage in curved aquaplaning. Noise gaps were small and inconsistent. Choose Continental if wet stopping and handling take priority; Bridgestone suits a driver who puts lower rolling resistance first and accepts its longer wet stops in these tests.

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 36 m stop against 34.2 m is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 96%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 7 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Bridgestone Turanza T005
- 73%from 200 reviews
- 57%would buy again
- 2,906,122 milesdriven by reviewers
Owner feedback on the Bridgestone Turanza T005 is mixed (average 68.6%), but most agree it delivers dependable everyday grip, particularly on dry roads and often in the wet too. Comfort and fuel efficiency are also frequent highlights, with many describing an easy, relaxed touring feel. The main drawbacks are refinement and longevity: around a third of owners complain about road noise, while tread life is debated and slightly leans negative overall, with many reporting quicker-than-expected wear. A smaller but notable group (around one in five) also dislike the steering feel, often describing it as light or lacking feedback, and a few report weak performance in cold weather.
- Strong dry grip and reassuring traction
- Confident wet grip for normal driving
- Comfortable, compliant ride
- Good dry handling and stability
- Noticeable road noise, especially at motorway speeds
- Tread life can be disappointing for the price
- Light or vague steering feel / limited feedback

Continental PremiumContact 7
- 83%from 72 reviews
- 74%would buy again
- 720,352 milesdriven by reviewers
Owners are largely impressed with the Continental PremiumContact 7, rating it 82.9% on average with no outright negative reviews, and the standout theme is strong, confidence-inspiring grip in both dry and wet conditions. Nearly half of owners mention excellent dry and wet grip, often backed up by praise for secure handling and stability. The main drawback is refinement: around a quarter to a third of owners report notable road noise, and a similar share are disappointed by tread life, with wear sometimes described as quicker than expected. Comfort is generally viewed positively overall, though opinions vary, and steering feel is more mixed than the outright grip levels suggest.
- Strong dry grip and traction
- Very confident wet grip
- Secure, planted handling in the dry
- Comfortable ride over bumps and on longer runs
- Noticeable road noise, especially on coarse surfaces
- Tread life can be disappointing for a premium tyre
- Steering feel/precision can be inconsistent (some find it vague)

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
Three independent summer tyre tests put the Bridgestone Turanza T005 and Continental PremiumContact 7 side by side: Sport Auto's 2024 test, Motor's 2023 test and Tyre Reviews' 2023 touring tyre test. Continental finished first in all three, while Bridgestone finished third each time. Continental's clearest advantage is wet braking; Bridgestone consistently has lower rolling resistance.
Continental also recorded quicker wet and dry handling in every test. It stopped shorter on dry roads in Sport Auto and Motor, although dry braking was effectively level in Tyre Reviews' test. Bridgestone showed good straight-line aquaplaning resistance, but its wet braking deficit was substantial in both 2023 tests.
Noise differences were small and changed direction between tests. Tyre Reviews rated Bridgestone slightly higher for comfort. Sport Auto's Bridgestone was the AO-marked version optimised for the Audi A1, a point worth bearing in mind when comparing that result with the other two tests.
