Wins count every measurement the shared tests recorded for both tyres; a tick marks the tyre ahead on that line. Subjective driver scores count as wins but are never averaged, because each test uses its own scale.
Head to head in 31 tests, 2018 to 2023
Each row is one published test in which both tyres ran on the same car, in the same size, on the same day. The line is the whole field, winner on the left.

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 36 m stop against 34.2 m is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 90%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 5 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Bridgestone Turanza T005
- 73%from 200 reviews
- 57%would buy again
- 2,906,122 milesdriven by reviewers
Owner feedback on the Bridgestone Turanza T005 is mixed (average 68.6%), but most agree it delivers dependable everyday grip, particularly on dry roads and often in the wet too. Comfort and fuel efficiency are also frequent highlights, with many describing an easy, relaxed touring feel. The main drawbacks are refinement and longevity: around a third of owners complain about road noise, while tread life is debated and slightly leans negative overall, with many reporting quicker-than-expected wear. A smaller but notable group (around one in five) also dislike the steering feel, often describing it as light or lacking feedback, and a few report weak performance in cold weather.
- Strong dry grip and reassuring traction
- Confident wet grip for normal driving
- Comfortable, compliant ride
- Good dry handling and stability
- Noticeable road noise, especially at motorway speeds
- Tread life can be disappointing for the price
- Light or vague steering feel / limited feedback

Continental Premium Contact 6
- 81%from 139 reviews
- 73%would buy again
- 1,435,468 milesdriven by reviewers
Owners largely rate the Continental Premium Contact 6 for its strong all-round grip, with around half praising dry grip and a similar share highlighting reassuring wet performance, backed up by positive comments on handling and steering feel. The biggest recurring downsides are refinement and durability: roughly two in five mention road noise (more often as a complaint than a praise), and around a third report faster-than-expected wear. Comfort impressions are mixed but lean positive, with some owners enjoying a plush ride while others find it firm or harsh, particularly on rougher roads.
- Strong dry grip and traction
- Reassuring wet grip
- Comfortable ride for a performance-leaning tyre
- Confident dry handling and control
- Noticeable road noise for many owners
- Wears quicker than expected
- Firm/harsh feel linked to sidewall stiffness

All 139 Premium Contact 6 reviewsThe tyres were used on a SEAT LEON TDI mostly on highway. Summer tyres to a sunny country as Greece worked perfectly. Confidence in all circumstances especially high speed cornering. Economically speaking I wouldn't say so, but that is not my major concern which is safety atll times especially avoiding all kind of obstacles.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
This head-to-head pits two premium-touring summer staples against each other: Bridgestone's efficiency-focused Turanza T005 and Continental's dynamically inclined PremiumContact 6. Across 31 shared tests, the Continental typically brakes shorter-especially in the wet-while the Bridgestone consistently posts class-leading rolling resistance and often better aquaplaning margins.
Expect clear trade-offs: the PC6 leans sporty and safety-first with repeatedly shorter dry and wet stops, whereas the T005 prioritizes low fuel use, lighter construction and competitive pricing, with stable manners and frequent aquaplaning wins.
Conclusion
Pattern-wise, Continental's PremiumContact 6 is the safer bet for outright grip and braking, winning far more overall tests (26 vs 5) and dominating wet braking (21 category wins). It usually feels sharper to steer and claims higher mileage in ADAC/Auto Bild wear testing. If you value confident stops in sudden summer downpours and a more engaging drive, pick the PC6.
Bridgestone's Turanza T005 answers with excellent efficiency (16 rolling-resistance wins), lower purchase price in most sizes, and frequent aquaplaning advantages. It's the smarter choice for high-mileage motorists, fleet users, and EV/hybrid owners chasing lower energy use, provided slightly longer wet stops are acceptable. Bottom line: PC6 for maximum braking security and dynamics; T005 for running-cost savings and strong aquaplaning resistance.

Where this data comes from
Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tyres ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tyre Reviews Score rates each tyre out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tyres can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tyre Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tyres independently since 2007.
