Bridgestone Turanza 6 vs Continental PremiumContact 7

This head-to-head pits two premium-touring summer tyres with very different philosophies: Bridgestone's Turanza 6 focuses on efficiency and comfort, while Continental's PremiumContact 7 chases outright grip and control. Across eight shared professional tests from 2023-2025, the Continental consistently set the pace in safety-critical metrics.

Expect the PremiumContact 7 to stop shorter and steer more precisely-especially in the wet-while the Turanza 6 counters with class-leading rolling efficiency, lower noise, and strong value. For EVs or high-mileage drivers, Bridgestone's low consumption and quiet ride are compelling; for drivers prioritizing confidence and control in all weather, Continental's dominance is clear.

  • Lower noise levels and refined ride
  • Competitive straight/curved aquaplaning in several tests
  • Strong value proposition with solid wear and lower fuel/electricity use
  • Outstanding wet and dry braking (8/8 category wins across tests)
  • Precise steering and stable, predictable handling in all conditions
  • Consistently quickest in wet/dry handling metrics
  • Very good projected mileage in multiple tests

Real World Driver Reviews

Bridgestone Turanza 6 Driver Reviews

Most drivers rate the Bridgestone Turanza 6 highly for its excellent wet grip and braking, very low noise levels, comfortable ride, and improved fuel economy, often noting strong aquaplaning resistance and confidence in heavy rain. Dry grip is generally good for a touring tyre, but the softer sidewalls can make steering feel less precise, with some reports of floatiness, understeer, and reduced feedback at higher speeds. A minority mention faster or uneven wear and occasional noise increase over time, but these are not dominant trends. Overall, the Turanza 6 suits drivers prioritizing comfort, quietness, and wet-weather security over sporty handling feel.

Based on 48 reviews with an average rating of 79%

Continental PremiumContact 7 Driver Reviews

Drivers of the Continental PremiumContact 7 overwhelmingly praise its outstanding wet and dry grip, strong braking, and confidence-inspiring handling, often noting clear improvements over the PC6. Many also report solid comfort and better aquaplaning resistance, though experiences vary by car. The most frequent drawbacks are higher road noise on coarse asphalt and, for a subset of users, faster tread wear; a few enthusiasts note soft sidewalls that reduce steering precision. Overall sentiment is strongly positive given the high number of top-scoring reviews.

Best Review for the Bridgestone Turanza 6
Given 10% 215/50 R18 on a combination of roads for 200 average miles
Bought these based on reviews. Had all four previous Bridgestone Turanza (factory fitted 5 years ago when the car was new) replaced by these. When I drove from the garage they felt really planted and quiet. As I always check the tyre pressures when I get home after having new tyres fitted I left it a couple of hours to let them cool down. On initial inspection they looked like they needed more air in them. So I got the pump out and the gauge read 41psi (10psi more than recommended). I thought it was the gauge on the pump being faulty so I used another gauge only to find it was reading... Continue reading this review using the link below

Conclusion

Continental's PremiumContact 7 is the performance benchmark here: 8/8 test wins overall, clean sweeps in dry and wet braking, and repeated firsts in handling. The gaps are often meaningful-wet braking advantages of 6-18% and consistently better lap pace translate into real-world safety margins. Trade-offs are slightly higher rolling resistance and a touch more exterior noise.

Bridgestone's Turanza 6 is the efficiency specialist. It routinely posts best-in-test rolling resistance, is quieter, and often resists aquaplaning well. It's a smart pick for EVs, long commutes, and drivers prioritizing refinement and running costs. If you want the most secure braking and the sharpest control in mixed conditions, choose the PremiumContact 7; if you value economy and comfort without chasing ultimate grip, the Turanza 6 delivers.
Key Differences
  • Safety margins: Continental stops shorter in both dry and wet (often 5-18% in wet braking).
  • Handling precision: Continental earns top subjective scores; Bridgestone feels safer but less incisive at the limit.
  • Efficiency: Bridgestone's rolling resistance is lower (often by 6-14%), aiding fuel/EV range.
  • Noise/comfort: Bridgestone is quieter; Continental can be slightly louder externally.
  • Aquaplaning: Mixed-Bridgestone leads straight/curved in some sizes, Continental in others.
  • Longevity/value: Continental shows higher wear mileage in key tests; Bridgestone offsets with lower consumption and often better price/value ratios.

Footnote

This page has been developed using tyre industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tyres in the same test.

Why is this important? Tyre testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tyre test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tyre tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tyre Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tyre comparison, Tyre Reviews doesn't.
