The Hankook Winter i cept IZ3 is a Nordic studless winter tyre with strong wet-road performance and confident snow traction. Its main weakness is ice grip, while snow braking trails its rivals by a small margin.
In its one independent test, the Winter i cept IZ3 finished fourth of seven Nordic friction tyres. It was strongest on wet roads, sharing the shortest braking distance and placing second for handling, with precise steering. Dry braking was also competitive and its behaviour was calm and predictable, although the steering felt less precise than in the wet. On snow, traction was good and handling felt confident, with logical understeer at the limit.
Ice is the more significant compromise against other studless Nordic tyres. Braking and traction were near the bottom of the class, and the rear tyres could lose grip in extreme situations, although the testers otherwise considered it generally reliable on snow and ice. Snow braking also ranked last, but the gap to the best was only 1.8%. It suits drivers who want a Nordic winter tyre with capable wet-road manners and good snow traction, but those facing frequent icy conditions may prefer a tyre with stronger ice grip.
