These were purchased to replace some e.Primacys that came with the car. Those had about 4-5mm of tread left at 14000 miles but never gave me any confidence in wet conditions, which is where the need for a replacement came in.
I was in a toss up between the Primacy 5 Energy, these and possibly the Hankook Ion Evo. Hankook looked ugly to my eyes (which kinda gives away how little there is between these tyres) and I couldn’t find the Primacy 5 with acoustic foam in my size which I didn’t want to give up on as I’ve found it great for cabin comfort.
Compared to the ePrimacy which road quiet, these have slightly louder tyre roar. That said, they seem to sponge up bumps much better and provide a lot of confidence when cornering and accelerating in wet conditions.
There’s a trade off for this, they do have higher rolling resistance, even being A rated, the ePrimacy seemed to sacrifice everything for efficiency.
I think you’d be hard pressed to pick between these and the Primacy 5 Energy. This is a very “touring” sport tyre, those are a firmer touring tyre. They probably last a bit longer with a quieter sound but not sure if it translates into the cabin without trying them.
