Data updated
Which should you buy?
Choose the Falken Azenis FK520 if you want the better ownership proposition (much longer wear, better value, usually lower rolling resistance) with generally strong braking-ideal for high-mileage road driving. Choose the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 if your priority is sharper, more athletic handling and stronger aquaplaning reserves, and you're willing to accept materially shorter tread life and a higher cost-per-kilometre.
Where the Azenis FK520 is stronger
- Strong braking performance with several standout results (e.g., SUV 2026: 32.5 m dry and 51.3 m wet vs Toyo's 34.6 m and 55.4 m)
- Clearly superior wear/longevity across tests (typically +28-37% more projected mileage, e.g., 52,080 km vs 38,420 km in AutoBild 2026)
- Better value metrics and usually lower purchase/operating cost (e.g., AutoBild 2026 value: 12.86 vs 16.4; ADAC 2025 value: 9.42 vs 12.11)
Where the Proxes Sport 2 is stronger
- Stronger dry handling pace and more confident subjective steering/turn-in (e.g., AutoBild 2026 subjective dry: 8.7 vs 5.3; SUV 2026 dry handling: 104.9 vs 102.4 km/h)
- Better wet handling trend (category wins: 5-0 across shared summaries), usually feeling more composed at the limit
- Often superior aquaplaning reserves, especially in straight and curved aquaplaning in key tests (SUV 2026: +5.3% straight, +17.4% curved)

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Falken Azenis FK520
- 82%from 56 reviews
- 76%would buy again
- 418,489 milesdriven by reviewers
Owners generally rate the Falken Azenis FK520 highly (average 79.6%), most often praising its strong dry grip and capable wet grip for the money. Comfort and refinement also come through well, with many describing it as quiet and compliant for a UHP-style tyre, and around one in five explicitly calling it great value. The main recurring drawbacks are mixed steering feel (some find it sharp, others a bit numb) and a smaller but notable group reporting vibration/balance issues; wet handling is also more divided than outright wet grip.
- Strong dry grip, comparable to premium brands
- Reassuring wet grip
- Comfortable ride despite sporty intent
- Low road noise on motorway speeds
- Occasional vibration or balancing issues at speed
- Steering feel can be a bit numb or lacking feedback
- Wet handling feels less confidence-inspiring for some

All 56 Azenis FK520 reviewsFalken Azenis fk520 have been a great tyre, noise level is not intrusive and they give a good return on fuel economy. These tyres are very progressive and give good feed back. Having watched a back to back comparison with the Michelin PS4, the Falkens are punching way above their price range. If you want near PS4 performance at kumho prices, you won't go far wrong...will definitely try out the latest incarnation, Falken azenis R820 when the fk520's are done.
Toyo Proxes Sport 2
- 92%from 9 reviews
- 100%would buy again
- 88,100 milesdriven by reviewers
Drivers report the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 delivers standout performance for the price, with consistently strong dry and wet grip, high confidence at speed, and sharp, predictable handling/steering response. Many comparisons against premium competitors (Michelin/Goodyear/Continental/Bridgestone) describe the Toyo as matching or exceeding them in real-world traction and stability while offering excellent value. Wear/longevity feedback is generally very positive where reported, with several users noting robust tread life. A smaller number of drivers mention trade-offs such as limited rim-protection and a sport-tyre firmness (and occasional noise) depending on vehicle setup.
- Strong dry grip and traction
- Excellent wet grip and confidence in the rain
- Sharp handling, steering response, and stability at speed
- Predictable behavior under hard braking/cornering

All 9 Proxes Sport 2 reviewsI have had these tyres on my Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro for a year and a half now and coming from an avid PS4S user I must say I'm shocked at how good these are for the money! They were about £70 per corner cheaper than the PS4S' for the TT in 255/35/19 so initially I was sceptical but I am amazing at the handling, dry AND wet grip they provide and the longevity of the tyres! I have covered a good mix of country roads, motorways and long trips across Europe in the year and a half I have had these on and they have never missed a beat! I'm so confident in the wet, even when driving very "spiritedly"! Granted they aren't as comfortable as a BluEarth GT AE51 for example but the car is lowered on coil overs so its not all the tyres fault. 10/10 would defiantly purchase again and recommend to others.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
Falken's Azenis FK520 and Toyo's Proxes Sport 2 sit in the same modern summer performance space, but they go about “fast road” capability in noticeably different ways. Across eight shared professional tests (from 18" UHP sizes up to 19" SUV fitments), the data repeatedly shows a split between measurable efficiency/value on the Falken side and sharper dynamic performance-especially handling feel and aquaplaning headroom-on the Toyo side.
The interesting part is that neither tyre is a simple “dry vs wet” cliché. The FK520 often produces very strong braking numbers (including standout wet braking in several tests) and consistently dominates longevity, rolling resistance and cost-per-km metrics. The Proxes Sport 2, meanwhile, tends to look best when the question is outright pace and stability at the limit-dry handling speed, subjective steering confidence, and aquaplaning reserves-yet it repeatedly gives back ground on wear and ownership cost.
Conclusion
Pattern-wise, the Falken Azenis FK520 is the smarter all-round purchase if you care about day-to-day running costs and braking security. It repeatedly leads projected mileage (e.g., 52,080 km vs 38,420 km in the 2026 AutoBild test; 46,700 km vs 36,600 km in ADAC; 40,000 km vs 30,000 km in AZ) and it's usually the better value-per-distance. It also frequently posts lower rolling resistance (e.g., 7.35 vs 8.25 kg/t in the 2026 SUV test; 7.71 vs 8.61 kg/t in AutoBild 2026), which is a real-world benefit for energy use. The trade-off is consistency and precision in dynamic driving: multiple reports flag vague or delayed steering response and weaker side guidance, which can reduce confidence even when pure braking distances look strong.
The Toyo Proxes Sport 2 is the pick for drivers prioritizing handling sharpness and aquaplaning confidence over total cost of ownership. It is regularly faster in dry handling (e.g., 104.9 vs 102.4 km/h in the 2026 SUV test; 100.7 vs 98.5 km/h in AutoBild 2026; quickest in AZ 2025) and often leads subjective dry handling by a wide margin (AutoBild 2026: 8.7 vs 5.3 points). It also tends to post stronger aquaplaning reserves (SUV 2026: 89.9 vs 85.4 km/h straight aquaplaning and 2.56 vs 2.18 m/s² curved). The consistent “gotcha” is wear and therefore value: it repeatedly sits near the bottom for projected mileage, which makes it harder to justify unless you specifically want its more athletic character.
Practical takeaway: if you want the more economical, longer-lasting tyre with strong braking and efficiency, the FK520 is usually the better buy; if you want the more responsive, higher-limit feel (especially in standing water/aquaplaning scenarios), the Proxes Sport 2 is the more rewarding driver's tyre-just expect to pay for it in tread life.

Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tyres ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tyre Reviews Score rates each tyre out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tyres can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tyre Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tyres independently since 2007.
