2020 Motorcycle Sports Touring Tyre Test

Steering is good with plenty of feel, however they take longer to warm up than others and felt a bit slithery until then. During faster riding, the TC light came on more with these tyres than others on test, and they tended to tramline more than the others. They feel secure when the bike is lent over in fast corners but the ride quality isn't the best.

while driving a
Honda ST1300
(170/60 R17)
on a combination of roads
for 11,500 spirited miles
from an st1300 Pan European using the GT version of the BT31 tyre front and rear
dry grip - great if smoothish, found slightly rough (UK B roads) had a little bit of a skip feel on even shallow bends)
wet grip - good compared to past but have had better from sports tyres.
road feed back - sometimes a little too much. feels like a slip when it isn't sometimes. but great feed back on what you want too
handling - I'm no racer but can have a good spirited ride with the sports bikes and keep up fine. Normal road surface and good weather a large bike handles well
comfort - great, but could also be the bike to be honest
buy again - YES! about to buy another set now! 11500 miles to a rear (although destroyed it on the last 100 mile) and the front is still legal! (just). I would never ride a tyre beyond the legal limits but the rear went from 2m reminders to a middle section missing in 100 mile. I cant complain at getting over 11000 miles before it was a problem. change before the limits and you will still have your monies worth! and it was still gripping like a good tyre. I also don't potter about so it took a beating.
