Given 85% while driving a Hyundai elantra (185/65 R15) on mostly town for 100 easy going miles
I bought a second hand 2012 elantra for the wife - cost $8000 aud - the first time I drove it home it wheel spun when taking off at the lights FWD in the dry - then in the wet it was worse - he wife even managed to spin the wheels on a normal take off at the lights - ESD did nothing - I decided its was down to the tyres - they were new with plenty of tread - but were a cheap kmart brand diamond back that the previous owner had put on about $160 the pair . The rears were hankook kinetic - I assume the fronts were the same when new .
I researched the best tyres in the wet and these premium contact 5s came up as best wet weather tyres - so I got 2 put on the front wheels fpr $240 - now I can say best decision I made - ive tried my hardest to get them to spin in the wet and they just don't - we don't get much rain here in perth WA but when it does roads are slippery for the first day or so during a wet period - with a baby on the way im glad I went with these tyres for our security . So if your having FWD wheel spin problems in wet or dry - change your tyres and get these - they stick like glue to the road - brilliant - cheers - Jon P

Have driven the CPC5's on my car for about 20000 km now, over the course of 1.5 years.

All of my tyres have about 1mm of thread above the 3mm Continental Wear indicators (not the 1.6mm wear indicators; total 4mm thread left now, originally 8mm if I recalled correctly). This gives a wear rate of about 1mm per 5000km approximately on generally well-maintained asphalt roads. The wear rate aren't totally the same across one tyres. Even after 3 tyre rotation cycles, one particular tyre seems to be worn a bit more than the other 3, leading me to believe there's a significant difference in rubber compound quality between batches.

Performance (grip and comfort) has been superb when new, but at about part midlife, the tyres are getting noisy, transmit vibration and bumps to the cabin more than what I remembered initially, and squeaks more when turning in indoor carparks with smooth flooring. Did a couple of emergency braking on dry road and they performed admirably. Tyres have never slipped when accelerating or hard-braking on wet road so far. I don't remember it aquaplaning too when driven at speed over puddles. I drive the car spiritedly at times, but most of its time on the road is for average work-home commute in busy traffic 40-70 km/hr.

Given 93% while driving a Renault Clio 1.4 16v (185/55 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 3,000 easy going miles
In the dry these tyres fir 185 55 R15 are really great. With low rolling resistance you can glide up to lights and still be able to move off in second as the car is still moving- allows quick progress on motorway junctions. Do note that these tyres roll better compared to Dunlop winter tyres so you do need to watch how fast you come to lights as sometimes you can misjudge the timings and end up nearly going through red.

Wet- Very good, have driven in heavy rain up north and have been able to change lanes with ease and did not experience aquaplaning at all, compared to the Nexen`s that were on before.

Noise, the tyres are quite on smooth tarmac and are a pleasant to drive on however, on rough surfaces it is really loud and intrusive.

Wear, in 3000 miles they are now at 7mm compared to 8mm when new. so about average really.

Only thing to note is that regular checking of tyre pressure is needed as the sidewalls seem thin as I have had to have one tyre put on the back due to uneven tyre wear caused by low pressure. They seem to leak a bit of air but by checking tyre rpessures weekly and before long journey`s then this shouldn`t be a problem really.

For 185 55 R15 the fuel economy is C rated, Wet is A rated and noise is 70 decibels.

Once these tyres wear out I wont be buying again (there`s nothing wrong with them) as I will be going to Nokian Weatherproofs for all year round driving with the M+S three peak mountain snowflake I want for winter driving.

Mercedes Benz (225/50 R16 W) on mostly motorways for 0 easy going miles
The tyres are been fited on clk w209 200 compressor they were performing well on dry and wet surfaces but after 8000 km they start behave strangely especially when cornering on dry surface and in some places the road has a bit of moisture then sundenly the rear tyres soon loose grip dangerously that happens in meny acasions and in different type of asphalt surfaces

Good grip on dry and wet. Poor road feedback and cornering. Low noise levels adds to comfort. Terrible wear. V speed index is somewhat better than H. That' s all about these tires.

Given 81% while driving a BMW 550i (245/40 R20) on a combination of roads for 15,000 easy going miles
I've had these on my BMW 550i for 6 months now, with 15000 miles on them. My priority was comfort and these tyres delivered in that aspect. Very good grip in both wet and dry roads. Not much road noise compared to the bridgestone er300. Road feedback is excellent. I don't mind buying them again.

I've had the Continental Premium Contact 5 tyres on the front of my car for 5 months now and have been pretty disappointed with them. Initially they seemed like all round great tyres but after about 3 weeks of driving I started to get more and more wheelspin when pulling onto roundabouts etc which is odd for a small Diesel engine. Currently after about 5000 miles of motorway/country road/town driving I get wheelspin when pulling away from a standstill, wheelspin between gears (the worst being between 4th and 5th gear) and also wheel slip when going round corners at an average speed. Other family members have had issues with these tyres on a 1.5L diesel Quashqui although others have praised the tyres on a Ford Focus, Honda CRV and VW Tuigan - potentially great tyres but just not on the right car!

Given 90% while driving a Volkswagen Mk7 TSI (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 12,000 easy going miles
Golf 1.4tsi DSG 2013, tyres are originals, f/rear swap at 10k miles, just under 6mm tread left at 12'600 miles but I am easy driver, 48mpg overall since new. Will buy these again.

Großartige Reifen… falls ihr Reifen wollt, die euch euer Auto ans Limit bringen lassen, dann sind diese hier definitiv eine gute Wahl. Es gibt allerdings einen kleinen Wermutstropfen… der Verschleiß bei diesen Reifen ist astronomisch… Ich bezweifle, dass ich mehr als 13.000 Kilometer aus dem vorderen Paar herausbekomme. Keine Beschwerde, da ich sie ordentlich beanspruche, aber wenn man bloß einen vorschriftsmäßigen Reifenwechsel benötigt und eigentlich keine Lust darauf hat, sollte man sich besser woanders umsehen. Wenn man aber ein gutes Set Reifen haben möchte, die einen auf der Straße halten, auch wenn man den Wagen ans Limit bringt, dann sind die hier definitiv eine gute Wahl.
Ich werde sie mir nicht wieder besorgen, weil ich jetzt langsamer fahren möchte, um den Verschleiß zu verringern… Aber ich schätze diese Reifen immer noch sehr hoch ein… Es ist also eure Wahl… Sie nutzen sich SEHR schnell ab, wenn ihr anspruchsvoll fahrt. Ihr wurdet gewarnt!

Ich habe letzten März einen brandneuen Skoda Octavia gekauft, das ist jetzt 6 Monate her.
Die montierten Reifen sind noch die serienmäßigen aus der Fabrik.
Bezüglich des Handlings sind das definitiv leistungsorientierte Reifen für das Segment der Familien-Limousinen. Ihre Bodenhaftung und Kurvenfestigkeit ist spitze, die Lenkung erstklassig, und der Geräuschpegel im Auto ist mittel und für dieses Segment absolut akzeptabel.
Kein Wunder, dass diese Reifen bei unabhängigen Tests immer auf den ersten drei Plätzen landen.
Was ich nicht verstehe ist, dass sich hier so viele Leute über den Verschleiß aufregen – meine Reifen (6 Monate alt) sehen nach 7.000 km immer noch wie neu aus! Die Vorderreifen haben noch nicht mal 1 mm an Dicke verloren!
Das führt mich zu der Annahme, dass sich hier nur solche Leute beschweren, die entweder schlechte Fahrer sind – also viel Sprit bei unnötigen Beschleunigungen verbrauchen und hinterher jede Menge Bremsbelag, weil sie nie gelernt haben, rechtzeitig vor einer Kreuzung vom Gas zu gehen, und obwohl sie sich selbst für ganz normale Fahrer halten, in Wirklichkeit „Rennfahrer“ auf öffentlichen Straßen sind. Oder deren Radaufhängung beschädigt ist.
Zur Information:
Ich erreiche mit „erwachsenem, vorausschauendem Fahren” außerorts rund 5l/100km bei einer Geschwindigkeit von 100 km/h und innerorts etwa 7l/100km. Zur Erinnerung: es handelt sich um einen Benziner – keinen Diesel.
Wenn ich auf diese Weise fahre, müssen die Reifen keine unnötig großen Kräfte aushalten und nutzen sich letztendlich nicht so schnell ab. Das ist alles.
Schlussfolgerung: Wer sich über Verschleiß beschwert, sollte erst einmal vorausschauendes und umweltschonendes Fahren lernen. Und außerdem seine Radaufhängung überprüfen.
Rasante Beschleunigungen und daher zu viele Bremsungen an jeder Ecke und jeder Ampel treiben nicht nur den Spritverbrauch in die Höhe, sondern verschleißen auch die Bremsbacken und die Reifen – Physik-Einmaleins.
Bevor ihr euch also über den Verschleiß aufregt, denkt darüber nach, wie viel davon auf eure unreifen Fahrgewohnheiten oder euer mangelndes Wissen über Mechanik und Autos zurückzuführen ist.
Continental Contact Premium 5 sind bis heute unter den besten Reifen, die ich in den vergangenen 20 Jahren gefahren bin.

Given 81% while driving a Nissan Livina (195/65 R15 V) on a combination of roads for 65 spirited miles
Car is 7 seater multi-purpose vehicle driven in a tropical country (sunny this morning, rainy on the afternoon). Noticed a dramatic improvement on Dry Grip from the replaced tire yokohama aspec A300 which tends to spin on inclined parking egress. Wet Grip also improved, no break-away even at 100 km/h. Not willing to push to the limit though. Comfort is better, less road noise even on old asphalts.

Only complain is the soft sidewalls, notice a bit of body roll. My solution was to put a little more air (well within the max tire pressure, and within my car's specs). Cannot say about treadwear, tire only saw 3000 km as of this writing with minimal to no observable wear yet. I drive 60km total every day for 5 days a week on a paved road.
