Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

The Kumho excelled in wet conditions, achieving the best wet braking and handling times. It demonstrated a sharp steering response and maintained good noise levels. The tyre also offered strong grip in most conditions.
The firm carcass made the ride less compliant over bumps and reduced stability during recovery from slides. It had the lowest aquaplaning resistance and scored lowest for comfort among the test group.
The AT52 showed a clear bias toward on-road performance with its dynamic handling characteristics and excellent wet grip. While capable in off-road situations, its firm nature and comfort compromises make it better suited to vehicles spending most time on pavement.

Top 3 Kumho Road Venture AT52 Reviews

Given 79% while driving a Jeep wrangler jk (265/65 R18) on a combination of roads for 4,970 spirited miles
I have been using my AT52s on my Jeep JK for about 8000km and so far I really like them. I wanted an all-terrain tire which doesn't scare me on german highways... I drive this car on longer distances as well as off road, so I really needed something safe. Other ones I have driven severely lack good braking at higher speeds on asphalt, especially in the rain as well as handling difficulties. I drove these tires in all kinds of conditions by now and I am very happy with them. They handle precisely, which makes it fun for my 2 door. If its raining, muddy, snowy or bone dry you can expect the handling rather well. However, I noticed that in 2high you experience more understeer. That most likely has to do with my car itself too, but steering and ride height is pretty much stock. The fuel efficiency is alright too, but not great.

Given 42% while driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser (265/70 R17) on a combination of roads for 10,000 easy going miles
I fitted on my 4x4 a set of kumho at52 tires
I was expecting a lot from this tire unfortunately i was highly disappointed.
I do not recommend this tire. Its a trap it only works well the first year. I would definitely go back to BFGoodrich AT tires toughest all terrain tire ever.

Given 100% while driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 100 spirited miles
Well, partly on the basis of this test (one of two I found), I bought these (31/10.5-15 - not whatever is shown, my size wasn't an option & nor was NA - fitted to a 1979 FJ 55 Landcruiser). Motivation was that I didn't require great off road performance (first gear 2WD high range around my paddocks is about as hard as it gets) but was interested in road handling & braking, especially in the wet, on bitumen roads when I use the Cruiser as a truck, carting or towing things.
In anecdotal reinforcement of Jonathan's remarks, it's a delight on these parameters of appraisal - decidedly the best tyre I have fitted in 25 years of use of the Cruiser.

Given 80% while driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee (265/75 R15) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
Decided to go with this tyre because of the good reviews and the good price. I decided to get them to replace cheap chinese MT tyres which were deadly in the rain, but now with the at52, the car handles great in all conditions including rain and some snow. Its a great all around tyre with a great price but is a big on the stiffer side.

Given 77% while driving a Nissan Nissan Patrol Y62 (265/70 R18) on a combination of roads for 7,500 spirited miles
I’ve been running the Kumho Roadventure AT52s on my Nissan Patrol for about 12,000 kms, and I’m really impressed. They are priced well compared to other big-name brands, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet and smooth they are on the road, I honestly expected more noise and a rougher ride.

Off-road, my focus is on sand dunes, and these tires haven’t let me down. I drop the pressure to around 15 PSI, and they perform great on both hard-packed and loose soft sand.

If I had to nitpick, I wish they were a bit lighter and had white lettering on the sidewall (purely for looks, of course
