Best Tyres for the Toyota 4runner

The poorest tires ever. I replaced them after one winter.
My daughter has R3 on her CRV , they perform well.

Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 tires are only useful when you drive on a dry road. If you live in the desert southwest, never go in the rain and never go in the snow or mud they're fine. If you ever go to the mountains, in rain, sleet or snow, these tires are absolutely dangerous. Do not buy them if that's the case.
I got rid of these tires at 20,000 miles. I bought BFGoodrich KO3. They are not even in the same universe. The k03s are absolutely incredible.
The ironic thing about the k03 tire which is a million times better is there almost around the same price which I don't understand.

Have had KO2, Toyo AT3, Yokohama MT tires for comparison.
We drive mostly highway, tow a 6k trailer, weekends are off pavement.
Initial impressions-
Expect fuel economy loss. These are heavy tires for an AT. We had these on a 2” lifted 22’ 4Runner- just awful fuel economy. Now have these on a 26’ Diesel half ton. The new truck also took a hit in fuel economy.
Great on road, incredible off-road, great on gravel, stable towing tire. Best tire I’ve been on yet and will definitely buy them again.

Excellent grip in dry conditions, handles shockingly well. Braking, too, exceeds my expectations.

Not so on wet roads. I get ample rear wheel spin if I don't gently feather the gas. And lateral traction is nerve-wracking. I've experienced plenty of sliding around under normal throttle, and going around bends in the road (twisty, hilly roads). I'd be white-kuckled if I had to slam on the brakes under wet conditions.

They're a solid A in dry conditions, a C- in the rain and on wet roads. Offroad experience has been limited to dirt/gravel trails where they did very well.

These tires did well in every category. Dry traction, wet, snow, ice, and rolling resistance/mpg. I can't give direct comparisons because they were the first and only tires I had on my 4runner. It's hard to say whether it was the tires or driving more gently, but I never found or exceeded their limits, never really lost traction, and managaged to exceed my expected mpg. I was averaging >20 mpg on a lifted 20 year old 4runner.

I drove these tires for about 6 years and 35k miles. I replaced them due to age, not tread wear. The biggest complaint I would have would be that the tread on the shoulders didn't seem to have full-depth sipping as my shoulders were balding after about 20-25k.

As a discounted less expensive version of a more popular Michelin tire, they're a great alternative.

Amazing tire. A must-have for anywhere that freezes all winter. Drive on snow and ice almost like it's dry pavement. These tires have handled numerous evasive maneuvers (multiple deer and a surprise road cone) on dry pavement, wet pavement, and ice, and we never lost traction and we never hit anything. The only slight drawback is that some of the ice/snow grip is lost after several years but that's to be expected. All in all they're amazing tires to have in the winter and any freezing/snow conditions. You'll be happy you had them.

Good tire on-road. Handled quite well in highway and city driving for most of its life. Comfortable, quiet ride. Good handling. Not the best grip off-road or in snow. I would not trust them as winter tires. They have handled some fairly gnarly forest roads including some with sharp rocks without puncturing but not with the same amount of traction you would get with a more aggressive all-terrain tire. They have encountered lots of gravel over their life as well without issue.
