Across 11 summer-tyre tests the Pirelli Cinturato C3 shows consistently elite on-road grip and control, particularly in the wet, backed up by a very strong average overall result (2.6) and two test wins. It repeatedly lands near the top for wet braking/handling and is also a frequent front-runner in dry braking and objective dry performance, making it a strong “safe, fast” premium touring/summer choice.

The recurring trade-offs are refinement and efficiency: external/rough-road noise is often near the bottom of the class, and rolling resistance/fuel consumption tends to be mid-pack to poor versus the best. The sporty setup comes at a cost: road noise on coarse asphalt is the highest measured, and fuel consumption is also the highest. Ride comfort is average.

The C3 was best in dry braking and stayed right at the front across the wet tests, including near-best wet braking and 2nd in wet handling and wet circle. Subjectively it also scored at the top for dry handling and very high in the wet, which matched how easy it was to drive quickly. The compromises were refinement and water performance: it recorded the highest measured noise in the test and only mid-pack curved aquaplaning, plus rolling resistance was only average.

Pirelli’s Cinturato (C3) finishes just behind Continental. According to the test report, it secures a good rating for both safety and environmental balance, earning a clear recommendation. On dry roads the tyre has slight steering-feedback and precision weaknesses but remains safe and easily controllable due to high grip, and its braking distance from 100 km/h is rated very good. On wet surfaces it offers short braking distances, good handling and strong aquaplaning resistance. The environmental assessment is also good thanks to high predicted mileage, low abrasion and good efficiency. Strengths cited include good driving safety, high mileage and low wear, though the tyre is relatively noisy.

On wet roads it is the second-best tyre, posting short braking distances and earning a high subjective safety score thanks to precise feedback through the steering and a neutral, progressive balance at the limit. Dry handling is similarly safe and controlled, finishing level with the Continental on lap time, though the character is more about security than outright sportiness. The main drawback is noise - the Pirelli records the highest pass-by noise figure in the test at 72 dB(A). On the positive side, predicted tread life is good and abrasion is low, which helps justify the fairly high purchase price. The tyre also returns a reasonable rolling resistance figure. It does lose some ground in the lateral aquaplaning test, but this is a minor point in an otherwise well-rounded performance.

Pirelli’s fresh C3 proved a very strong second overall. The tyre offered precise steering, balanced side‑grip build‑up and predictable behaviour under load changes. Testers called it a prototype of the modern tyre: safe, sporty, balanced and comfortable. Its only real weakness was that the Falken beat it in both wet and dry braking, but below that high dynamic threshold the Pirelli impressed.

The new Cinturato C3 is an excellent upgrade to the P7 C2. This tyre had no real weaknesses, just a string of excellent performances across both wet and dry tests. While it might not have the absolute highest scores in comfort or refinement, the balance of performance puts it at the top of this test.
