Best Tyres for the Vauxhall Astra Coupe 1.8

On the positive side the tyre is very comfortable but unfortunately there is absolutely a lack of grip in both dry and wet conditions ! This black circle called a tyre is an absolute nightmare and waste of money! In my 35 years of driving I have never had such a really bad tyre !!! I won't be spending no more money on Vredestein tyres !

Once these tyres are 'broken-in', they are beyond fantastic.
Did 300 miles on them the day after I had them fitted, mixture of city, country and motorway roads. I must say I was impressed at the ride comfort and pretty low tyre roar, even on our random quality roads in Britain the tyres keep noise to a minimum.

IN THE DRY:
After this trip I tried some spirited driving in the dry, wheelspin is much less than before and I find my traction control has to work a lot less, the tyres grip extremely well and somewhat inspire confidence.

IN THE WET:
Eventually, the rain came and I took an opportunity to try them out properly, did some spirited driving around a few roundabouts and the tyres simply cling on, wheelspin doesn't happen any more than in would in the dry so I'm just as impressed.

IN THE SNOW:
Also, I stumbled upon some snow by accident having driven further up the country and took an opportunity to see how they would do. Once again, I was surprised that they worked as well as well as they did for a summer tyre. They're never going to be as good as winter tyres but its almost unbelievable they didn't leave me stuck, the tyres would spin and find grip with very little drama.

ON ICE:
After pulling over into a bus stop which I hadn't realised was pretty much all black ice, I was dreading trying to move off. Again, the tyres shockingly made very little drama along with the help of my traction control and allowed me to move off.

Conclusion:
Don't be put off Pirelli by their rubbish P6000 tyres, the P7 is nowhere near as dreadful. If anything I'm more than impressed with these, not sure about wear rate though as they've only been on a few days.

A garage stuck these on my car so it would pass it's MOT before I bought it. I was chuffed at the thought of having new tyres up front but that feeling soon went away when I discovered how poor these tyres are in the rain. In the dry, they perform pretty well, never had an issue with it. The problem starts when the road is wet, I had to do an emergency stop when someone pulled out of a junction in front of me and I can honestly say I've never been so scared as I braked from about 25mph, the car just seemed to keep on going. Another experience would be motorway driving with these tyres, there was heavy rain and I noticed my traction control light blinking on several occasions if I so much as changed lane or proceeded to overtake.
In terms of handling, these tyres grip fairly well however understeer is definitely an issue.
After doing 6,500 miles on these over 4 months, I can say there is no drone, noise or loss of comfort and no problems with balancing.
I can't see myself ever putting these on a car and will endeavour to get them off the car before the snow comes.
