bmw E30 Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Kumho Ecsta PS71 given 81% (205-45-16)
Driving on track for 500 spirited miles
After being used to old Federal 595RSR track tyres, these are most certainly not in the same ball-park for outright grip as more aggressive track-orientated tyres. I will say, I have been immensely surprised at an initial outing at Cadwell Park, covering around 100 track miles.
The Kumho provides a surprising amount of grip for a regular street tyre; which eventually breaks away predictably. You can feel the taller tread blocks moving around a little, but it adds to the fun enabling the car to move around a bit more than a track tyre would perhaps let you.
The tyres seemed to wear a minimal amount and were not overcome by heat or scorching as I had feared they would; running about 32psi.
Will be interested to see how they continue to wear and perform with a few more trackdays.

Driving on a combination of roads for 8000 average miles
I really like these. They provide good levels of adhesion and
feedback and yet remain quiet and very comfortable. My car has slightly modified suspension and these tyres really seem to suit the set-up.
I don't do track, but do occasionally drive spiritedly when it's safe to do so and I've always felt perfectly in control. Tyre wear after 7K miles seems minimal so all in all a very acceptable tyre
