The Federal Evoluzion ST 1 has generally struggled more with wet handling and aquaplaning than with dry braking. It was last of ten in the 2022 Tyre Reviews UUHP Summer Tyre Test and eighth of ten in the 2020 Teknikens summer test. Both criticised wet handling; Tyre Reviews placed it last, 21.5% slower than the best, and called wet braking dangerously long. Straight aquaplaning was ninth of ten in 2022 and eighth of ten in 2020. Dry handling was also weak in 2022, ninth of ten, while external noise was a positive at second of ten and the purchase price was low.
Wet braking varies considerably. Fourth of ten and only 4.9% behind the best in the 2020 Teknikens test was unusually strong compared with last of ten and a 27.8% gap in 2022, or 47th of 49 and a 37.3% gap in Auto Bild's 2020 braking test. Auto Bild's 2023 overview was less severe, 24th of 48 for wet braking, but still 16.9% behind the best. Dry braking was nearer mid-field or better in several comparisons, including fifth of ten in 2022 and 17th of 48 in 2023. That stopping ability and low noise do not remove the handling weaknesses; the 2022 verdict was not recommended.
