Performance Analysis

Drawn from 6 tests. Updated October 29, 2026.

Long wet stops and high rolling resistance recur in the Maxxis Arctictrekker WP05's test record, despite favourable aquaplaning and noise assessments. Auto Bild Allrad placed it last of eight in 2015, then ninth of ten and Not Recommended in 2017. In the latter test, wet braking and handling were both tenth of 11, while rolling resistance was last, 22.3% above the best. Auto Bild's 2019 braking overview also found a wet deficit, with 27th of 44 and a stopping distance 17.1% longer than the best.

Aquaplaning resistance and low noise were praised in both SUV comparisons; in 2017 they ranked fifth and fourth of 11 respectively. Dry handling was also good that year, fourth of 11 and only 0.8% behind the best speed, but dry braking was ninth, 19.1% behind. That unusually reverses the praise for short dry stops in 2015. Snow results varied unusually too: 2017 snow braking was tenth of 11, 8.6% behind the best, whereas the 2019 overview placed it 15th of 30 with a smaller 3.3% deficit. The 2015 verdict called snow performance average. Overall results of 25th of 49 in 2016, 36th of 50 in 2017 and 27th of 52 in 2018 add context without identifying further discipline strengths. Its noise and aquaplaning positives sit alongside persistent wet-braking and efficiency compromises.
