The Semperit SpeedLife 2 is a mid-range summer performance tyre with repeated praise for aquaplaning resistance and some favourable wet-handling results. Braking, wet grip and wear vary substantially between tests, with individual concerns over dry stability and lift-off oversteer.
Independent tests give this tyre a mixed record, with aquaplaning resistance the more consistently praised aspect. It led that discipline along with dry braking, wet braking and wet handling in the 2019 Moottori test of eight mid-range tyres. That win was unusually strong against several weaker results elsewhere. Third of fifty in the 2016 Auto Bild braking overview was another unusually favourable result, contrasting with weak wet grip and 14th of sixteen in ADAC's test that year.
The braking advantage was not repeated consistently: it finished towards the back in the 2018 Auto Navigator and 2019 Auto Bild braking comparisons, while wet braking was more competitive than dry braking in 2020. Wear also divided testers, from Auto Bild criticism in 2016 to ADAC praise and a recommendation in 2020. Dry directional stability and lift-off oversteer drew individual criticisms. Its aquaplaning performance offers a reason to consider it, but the wider record does not support a consistent braking or durability advantage.
