Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Top 3 Three A Farroad FRD 16 Reviews

Given 30% while driving a Ford Fiesta (195/55 R15) on mostly motorways for 97,450 spirited miles
I had to buy 2 pairs of FRD16 as an emergency replacement for my budget cars mismatched and worn tyres. At time if purchasing this brand and model were available at the tyre shop. I paid £67 for each tyre for the fitment. I usually drive on motorways at 70mph + every day. I travel 60 mile in each day between my home and job place. I found the ride fairly bumpy, jumpy and noisy. Therefore, I wouldn't reccomend these tyre for frequent high speed motorway users... I also experienced a near miss hydroplaning at nearly 50 mph on a heavy rain on the motorway. FRD 16s' unsatisfactory wet performance is obviously noticeable whenever you hit the water puddles in the road on a rainy days at relatively high speeds. I think these tyres are well suited for a low speed city commuting in a congested traffic.

Given 59% while driving a Suzuki WAGON R (165/70 R13) on a combination of roads for 3,000 average miles
These are good for low speed city traffic. Road noise and comfort are medium. At high speeds and corner handling you literally feel like swinging while driving on four balloons due to softer side walls.

Given 92% while driving a Citroën C8 (215/60 R16) on a combination of roads for 2,900 easy going miles
2722 miles across Europe on front drive wheels. Good in wet and dry. Excellent MPG: 50.5 overall, previous tires would be 46 or so. £60 each fitted, so low price but seem better than previous tyres

Given 27% while driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Mivec (205/60 R16) on a combination of roads for 15,000 average miles
Within 3 days it rained & these tyres had no traction. Wheel spins from the lights, sliding off roundabouts. If you find yourself in a position of needing new tyres or buying these ones, stay with needing new tyres.

Given 41% while driving a Honda 1.6 I DTEC (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 200 spirited miles
These tyres are new and came with the Honda Civic Mk9 I just bought. Noticeably the noise levels are on the high side. It sequels easily in corners and they tend to lose traction easily. I am now concerned driving on these at higher speeds and won’t be trying. I haven’t encountered wet weather driving yet. I have used other budget tyres that provide much higher ride comfort, dry and wet performance for a very low price. I can’t recommend these tyres and can’t wait to change them soon.
