SEAT Leon 1.4 16v Tyres

Did this also happen to you? I was super satisfied with the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 in size 205/55/16 — to the point that I changed them at 80,000 km!!! They kept all their characteristics at the maximum level up to 55,000 km, and after that they only lost a tiny bit of their excellent performance. The ABS never kicked in up to that mileage; I can even say they *stuck* to the road during sudden braking on dry asphalt, even at 60,000 km, and the hazard lights would come on automatically from the abrupt deceleration! From 60,000 to 80,000 km they still behaved very well — it felt like I was driving on a set of Continental or Michelin of a well-known brand that had done around 45,000–50,000 km.

BUT! This summer, when I installed the exact same tyres again (production December 2025), something strange happened. During sudden braking under the same temperature and acceleration conditions — coming from the same Avenue and braking hard from 100 km/h at the next traffic light — the ABS unit activates, causing the car not to “dig into” the road anymore! (Leon, January 2018 model, with brake fluid changed in September 2021.) Did something change in Goodyear’s rubber compound? Even the texture of the new tyres seems more nylon-like and less rubbery — or is it just my impression?

Nice tyre on dry. Very unsecure on wet.
