Performance Analysis
Drawn from 4 tests. Updated October 29, 2026.
The Imperial Snowdragon HP repeatedly struggles in wet conditions against other winter tyres. In the 2024 Auto Bild braking test it was 48th of 55 at 44.5 m, 28.6% longer than the best, following 41st of 49 in wet braking at 41.1 m in the 2021 Auto Bild overview, a 28% gap. ADAC placed it last of 15 in its 2022 185/65 R15 test, with poor wet performance driving the overall downgrade. Significant snow weaknesses were another concern, with no better than an adequate snow rating, and ADAC judged it not recommended. The earlier 2018 Auto Bild shootout was less poor at 31st of 52 overall, but still below midfield.
Wear was the clearest offsetting strength in the 2022 ADAC test, earning the top mark. The same test also found it good on dry roads and ice. Those are single-test positives, rather than repeated strengths across the whole record, and do not remove the recurring wet-weather shortfall. Only ADAC gives a detailed snow verdict, so the snow concern should not be presented as a repeated measured result across all four tests.

The performance of the IMPERIAL Snowdragon HP in the wet is classified as poor compared to the test field, which also leads to the downgrading of the overall rating. But even on snow, the IMPERIAL does not get more than an adequate rating. The tire is therefore considered "not recommended". The good results in the dry or even when worn cannot hide this.
