The Maxxis Premitra Snow WP6 brings up the rear in tenth place, requiring a general overhaul according to the testers due to significant weaknesses across multiple conditions. On snow, the tyre still manages to hold its own with acceptable grip and scores 18/30 for driving safety - this is actually one of its better showings among the budget profiles. However, the wheels fall off in wet conditions where the Maxxis records by far the longest braking distance at 56.8 meters - nearly 8 meters more than the winning Pirelli - combined with hectic load change reactions and severely compromised safety scoring just 19/45. At 100 km/h on wet roads, where the BMW stops with other tyres, the Maxxis would still be traveling at nearly 40 km/h - an unacceptable safety margin. Dry performance continues the disappointment with the longest braking distance at 46.2 meters, struggles with rear axle stability, and inadequate driving safety at 18/30, while comfort suffers at just 6/10. The tyre also disappoints in durability with high wear and a projected life of only 30,500 km. Despite costing less than premium options, the Maxxis cannot be recommended due to its dangerous wet braking performance and overall lack of refinement across conditions.

The Maxxis Premitra Snow WP6 receives only adequate ratings on dry roads and satisfactory on wet and winter surfaces, resulting in adequate overall driving safety despite good environmental performance. On dry roads, it provides only adequate steering feedback and precision requiring frequent corrections as the test vehicle doesn't follow consistent radii, with oversteering tendencies during dynamic maneuvers and above-average long braking distances rated as satisfactory. On wet surfaces, it achieves overall satisfactory performance with satisfactory braking distances and lateral aquaplaning, but only adequate handling due to weak grip levels and poor force combination, though it manages good longitudinal aquaplaning resistance. In winter conditions, it misses good ratings despite good snow braking and traction performance, but fails to achieve good ice braking and only manages satisfactory handling with early under/oversteering tendencies and moderate limit performance. This Chinese-manufactured tyre receives good environmental ratings with good predicted mileage, low tyre wear, and good efficiency.

Confidence inspiring tyre. I chose this tire for its exceptional wet handling. Nowadays we didn't see a lot of snow in the winter however (because of high yearly mileage) I didn't want to buy an all season tyre just yet. I made an excellent choice in my opinion for these type of conditions.

I am not driving that spirited, especially on winter tyres - thus take my grip specifics with a grain of salt. In the grip category i don't see reason to complain. Sometimes i am in the mood to take an on-ramp near the limit of grip - behaviour here seems normal to me, the car tends to understeer. The previous winter tyres i bought the car with were 8 year old Marangoni Meteo HP and those sometimes tended to oversteer and had quite bad wet grip, so i replaced them with these.
After one winter season the front tyres are severely more worn than the rears, i dont expect more than two seasons, so ca. 20000km out of these. On the inside of the car the tyre sounds fairly loud with a repeating growling which feels a bit like a outgoing wheelbearing is described. My eagle f1 asymmetric 5 summer tyres are far better in noise and comfort, which is important to me.
The tyres performed very well in the heavy snow we had this year. My car is lowered a bit and even with loose snow around the 10 cm mark i didn't get stuck while having a short donut session in a parking lot. I suspect with the immense wear now on the rear tyres i would have more trouble in a similar situation.
All in all i do not like these tyres a lot but they are not horrible - for my next set of tyres i will try another model in hopes of improving wear and noise.

The Maxxis WP6 is good enough for normal Dutch winter driving. Straight-line aquaplaning resistance is good and overall grip levels are acceptable.
However, on dry and wet roads the tyres lack feedback when cornering. Steering feel is vague and the car feels slightly floaty, especially in faster bends and motorway exits.
Snow traction is good and steering on snow is acceptable. On icy roads the rear of the car felt unstable, with a subtle side-to-side movement.
Previously driven on Firestone Winterhawk 2, Michelin Alpin A4 and Dunlop Winter Sport 5. Of those, the Dunlop offered the best overall balance and driver confidence.
Overall I’m satisfied, but I would not buy them again. Next time I would try the Kumho WP52 or return to a premium brand.
