Fitment comes from each tyre's manufactured size list, and the sizes are the ones drivers reported when they reviewed. Check the size, load index and speed rating on your own doorplate before buying - a size a previous owner ran is not always the size your car left the factory on.

purchased a set of 4, 235/40/18, for my passat tfsi 2.0. having replaced dunlop sportmaxx rt. driven 8.700 km so far and positively surprised by a so called "cheap" tyre. very good grip in both dry and wet conditions, not to mention their low noise and very good
comfort levels.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 225-45-17- Volkswagen Passat TFSI 2.0 Sport (200bhp) 5,000 miles July 11, 2016
Very good tyres, very good grip on wet and dry surface, fuel consumption are fine, they are not really quite but not noisy as well, highly recommended

Can't believe these tyres are legal
Simply appalling
absolute deathtraps in the wet even when new
Rock hard "rubber" with no give

Neuton NT5000 235-45-17- Volkswagen Passat TFSI 2.0 Sport (200bhp) 9,000 miles July 4, 2012
Before:
"Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3"
- 3 years / 40000 miles (on my old Passat)
Expensive tyre, cost me £90 - £100.
On Wet road - excellent!!!
For sporty driving - the best of the bests!
Short lifetime - 6000-9000 miles only...:(

Now:
"Neuton NT5000"
- 2 years / 40000 miles (on my current Passat)
Middle priced tyre, cost me £66.36 only.
On Wet road - Very good!
For sporty driving - Very good!
Average (not bad) lifetime - 12000-14000 miles

My plan is to try NT8000 soon.
If not,
NT5000 is still a very good value budget tyre,
enough safe, fast, stabil (above average) tyre for all (and sport) cars.

Where this data comes from

Every rating on this page was submitted by a driver through the review form on this site, naming the car, the tyre, the size and the distance covered. Reviews are checked by hand before publication, and the page rebuilds automatically as new ones arrive.

About the TR Score

The Tyre Reviews Score rates each tyre out of 10 using independent test results and the full body of owner reviews, so you can check a car-specific ranking against the wider evidence.

Who does the testing

Every test published as a Tyre Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tyres independently since 2007.
