Volkswagen mk2 golf gti heavily modified Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Uniroyal RainExpert given 84% (195-50-15-V)
Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 spirited miles
Used for road and track use on VW Golf Mk2 16v. Road performance very good in both dry and wet conditions with good adhesion and lateral grip. On track for a road tyre performance is very commendable - superb balance and lateral grip, tyres heated up quickly and maintained grip through multiple sessions with no degradation in performance under braking, acceleration or turning. Aftermath was ok, minor tread pilling however wear even. Used these Rain Experts for both road and track and not half worn in about 6k miles which given type of usage is good.

Driving on mostly country roads for 6000 spirited miles
Absolutely shocking tyres in the wet, they just lose traction wayyyy to easily. Not too bad in the dry, would avoid like the plague in future. Most of the £20 specials I've had on some of my cars have inspired more confidence in bad weather conditions.

Perhaps good for drifters?!

Driving on a combination of roads for 4000 spirited miles
Great in the dry but rubbish in the wet, aquaplanes as soon as it starts raining. For the price, i would rather put a budget on my car and have a better wet grip and less dry grip.

based on what i am about to type many of you will think i am a maniac , but this proves just how good these BUDGET TYRES really are .i had these on a modified mk2 golf gti . they were great fun with loads of grip in all conditions right until a blind old lady t boned me . i was speeding excesivly about 120mph , she was doing about 60mph , i saw her at the last second simply cross the junction without stopping . even at 120 i was able to swerve out ( under full control ) and allow her to hit my passenger door ( rather than me hit her driver door ) therefore preventing a double fatality . basically you cant just write off a tyre because you have lost traction , there are other factors that create grip , my golf had coil over suspension (increase in road holding) , strut braces ( increase in road holding) ,a front splitter and rear spoiler ( these increase down force making the car stick to the road better ) . when the car was coupled with 4 nankangs it stuck like glue . also to get full benefit from tyres you need a matched set , with even wear , and the correct presures . as well if you are going to drive fast into corners expect to slide , then it wont be a shock if it does happen and you can take a countering mesure . on a final note the tyres are so good that i have taken the time to source a set to go on my current vehicle .
