Volkswagen Touran sport TDi Tyre Review Highlights
I have these on a 2005 Touran, 1.7T weight but I have no rear seats or middle seats, so even lighter
The fronts have lasted 7K before I'm at approx 3mm.... Not impressed on that front, in the dry, I love them. I often drive "eco" in regards to motorway, occasionally I'll put my foot down and feel like I'm vaguely near their limit. I've had them squeal two-three times in 7K miles so overall they do grip well but they don't last well. In the 7K the majority has been on the A1/A14/motorway, the little bit has been city and just urban overall where I'm a lot less inclined to put my foot down.
In the wet, I haven't over/understeered, they've always gripped throughly well, stopping, I rarely get ABS to kick in unless it's really wet and I've found the painted white lines, I've had the occasional 80 down to 30-20-0, they're reassuringly stop very, very well.
I do not plan to purchase them again though, 7K miles to be at 3mm on the front is extremely poor. I have a family member who drives a lot more spirited, with michelins, they've lasted 20k and still have another 20k overall to go if not more. I have enjoyed them in their limited lifespan but I'm not reassured.

These tyres are fantastic in my humble opinion, they are everything you want on UK roads.

I got them on both cars, VW Touran 2.0Tdi 2005 and Toyota Avensis 2,2D 2006 205.55.R16, for about 5000km, very good tyres, very silent, good feedback wet or dry, I will buy them again. I bought them because they are made in Japan and after I have red a few comments on this site. I drove in and out of the city, keeping the speed in limits and I am very satisfied. After 5000 km, no sign of wear, looks new.

I have used Star Performer summer tyres for years now, and I'm very happy with them, so I decided to try their winter tyres. Unfortunately, chalk and cheese. While they are perfectly good in snow, able to drive up surprising hills with no problem, they are a nightmare in the wet. Even from new, with maximum tread, I found them sliding on wet roads and the ESP kicking in whenever I put the foot down. I ended up using these until they were done, all the while having to take great care on wet roads, and then I switched to Continentals and all was well. So not recommended at all due to their very poor adhesion in the wet.

We had it on our family car Touran Sport with DSG. Mostly town driving by wife however we also do quite a bit of motorway driving. This year will be the 4th season and we have driven around 15 in last 3 years. Their handling is wooly. Absolutely no feedback when it warm (above 12C), acceptable in cold. Grip is second to none. I have driven these in heavy snow on motorways un-gritted lanes and never miss a beat. Not bad at all in wet and frosty weather. Never skidded and have been thoroughly reliable. Also lasted well. At £47 they are a bargain and do the job. Why spend a fortune on big brands.

Coincidently bought them. I have Touran tdi sport with Pirelli P6000. When front one's wear off I ordered B'stone Turanza but it was delayed and guy at local tyre shop showed me this Matador. Look at the thread design, that oozed quality. I was told its made by Conti's so with out any more thoughts I bought 2 front ones. It was a sensible choice. Car handling is improved a lot and much more confidence. My wife who drives it mostly have been liking them as road feedback is very good. I checked their website and they are owned by Conti's. Road noise is more then b'stone I have in 5 series but less then Pirelli. Wet handling and braking is second to none. It cost me £120 for 2 tyres. Go and buy them. You will not go wrong. Don't waste money on anything more expensive.

They are basically an unbranded continental tyre. Made in the same factory, same design, construction, tread pattern, materials etc, the only difference being the laminate on the side bears a different name. Cant rate them enough as a budget alternative, shop around and get a bargain £60 each fitted for 205/55/16
