Drawn from 6 tests. Updated October 13, 2026.
Across six independent winter tests, the Matador MP93 Nordicca repeatedly lands in the lower half of the field overall (average overall position 19.5), with a clear, consistent pattern: it is comparatively capable on snow/ice for a Central European winter tyre, but gives away a lot on wet (and often dry) safety disciplines. Evidence of its winter ability includes strong class-relative snow results such as 4th/11 in snow handling (+1.6% from best) in the 2026 Auto Bild Allrad SUV test and top-10 snow traction/braking in the 2025 ADAC test (8th/31 snow traction, 8th/31 snow braking). Testers also explicitly note “good ratings for snow and ice braking as well as snow traction” and describe it as “good on snow and ice”.
The exceptions are mainly around refinement and efficiency rather than outright grip: it is notably quiet and efficient in ADAC's 2025 test (3rd/31 noise; joint best fuel consumption, 1st/31), and Auto Bild Allrad also called it among the most comfortable outside the top five. However, these positives are repeatedly outweighed by wet-road shortcomings (e.g. wet braking typically >20% off the best in Auto Bild's large braking qualifiers and a wet aquaplaning safety penalty in 2026) and by weak dry-road behaviour (ADAC criticism of imprecise steering and bottom-tier dry braking; Auto Bild Allrad placing it among the slower tyres on dry handling and braking).

The Matador MP93 Nordicca shares 16th place with a 'satisfactory' verdict. It is long-lasting and cheap to run, but weak in the wet.
The Matador MP93 Nordicca shares seventh place overall, rated satisfactory after a safety penalty. It handles well on snow, but its wet performance is well short of the leaders.
The Matador MP93 Nordicca fails to achieve good results on dry, wet, and winter roads, resulting in only a satisfactory driving safety rating, and also narrowly misses a good environmental score, leading to a satisfactory overall evaluation. For driving safety, the tyre shows weaknesses in precision and steering feedback on dry roads, lacking the accuracy and directness expected for good ratings during steering input and cornering - steering corrections are needed to maintain the desired path, and during sudden evasive maneuvers the Matador doesn't fully convince as the test vehicle tends to oversteer, especially when counter-steering, with sliding phases that could be shorter, resulting in limit behavior that isn't critical but only achieves satisfactory ratings, and dry braking distances are also rated as only satisfactory compared to the test field. On wet surfaces, the MP93 Nordicca also only manages satisfactory ratings, failing to achieve good scores for braking distances or longitudinal and lateral aquaplaning resistance, while its handling performance is rated as merely adequate due to poor combination of longitudinal and lateral forces, causing the test vehicle to tend toward under- or oversteering early and for extended periods depending on the curve, preventing precise control over the course with low limit performance and only adequate safety reserves. In winter conditions, the MP93 Nordicca also narrowly misses good results, though it achieves good ratings for snow and ice braking as well as snow traction, its handling performance is only rated as satisfactory since the tyre should better combine longitudinal and lateral forces for more precise course control, with moderate limit reserves. Regarding environmental performance, this French-manufactured tyre narrowly falls short of satisfactory ratings, just missing good scores for predicted mileage but showing low tyre wear and good efficiency thanks to low weight and fuel consumption.
The Matador MP93 Nordicca shows weaknesses both in the dry and in the wet, in both criteria it is rated as satisfactory. Despite the good snow and ice properties, it received the final rating of "recommended", since the satisfactory performance in the dry led to a devaluation of the overall grade.
