Fiat Sedici 16v 4x4 Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Falken ZE912 given 54% (205-60-16-V)

These are as expensive as premium brands in my size. The simply do not have the performance to justify the high price. The most scary thing was the wear, achieving just 3900 miles on my SUV.

Wouldn't use again for the above reason.

My car is a Fiat Sedici 1.9JTD, basically a Suzuki Sx4 masquerading as a Fiat but with electronic 4 Wheel drive. It is a sort or crossover car. I have had it since new and it chews tyres on the front badly. The Yokohama's it came with lasted 4000 miles, next were Michelins at just 3000 miles. Then I went Falken 952 and got a staggering 7000 miles. Got ripped off on a cold dark night with a puncture and had Kumurans fitted and these were lethal. I got them taken off after 600 miles or I am sure me or the wife would have died (these are supplied by Michelin). Tyre shopper recommended Nankang which were the same tread pattern as the Yokohama's it had originally on the front and it still has on the back. These were the XL version and what a difference. The car is back to how I got it when delivered. I am not sure if it is the XL doing it but I have covered 11,000 miles and they still look like they can do another 11k before replacement. Tough, wear well and no grip or lack of braking performance. Found this site as I am ordering another two for the rear now. Work well on crossovers I guess.

Writing about the Kormoran Gamma B2 given 19% (205-60-16-H)
Driving on mostly country roads for 4000 easy going miles
These lasted just 4k and were down to the lining. Even with the tracking checked twice and pressures checked the car felt nervous and screeched wildly going around roundabouts at even the slowest speed. The ABS worked overtime and the fuel economy dropped from 41mpg with the Falkens, down to 38mpg.

Writing about the Vredestein Sportrac 3 given 100% (205-60-16-H)

The tyres look fantastic and live up to the hype. Rain means nothing to these tyres, aqau-planing doesn't exist. They feel exceptionally safe and corner like you are on rails. Only had them on a month but as a summer tyre they truly compliment my Snowtrac3 winter tyres. I personally wouldn't look at any other make than Vredestein.

Got these tyres for winter and they didn't let me down, I truly went anywhere I wanted in snow and ice. Fitted them at the end of October and took them off at the end of March and the tyres still have 7.5mm of tread left. So impressed I now have sportrac 3 fitted for my summer tyres.

We have these tyres (OEM) on a 2 year old (6000mile) Fiat Sedici 16v 4x4. I was just intriged as to what they were as I hadn't seen them before and I keep reading that 4 wheel drive with 'ordinary' tyres in poor conditions are worse than 2 wheel drive with winter tyres. In general use they're just another tyre however the following might be of interest if you have a small/medium 4x4/SUV with 'ordinary' tyres.
Remember the very poor weather and snow in the UK in December 2009/January 2010.I had no choice but to drive (to/from work)in the worst snow/ice/weather conditions for decades. The Fiat on these tyres with 4 wheel drive engaged and locked never missed a beat. It regularly climbed a 30degree snow/ice covered slope from a dead start and without a hint of slipping. I drove 25miles at 1 am on minor 'B'roads in 6" snow with it still falling in order to get home with no problems and drove round and through the carnage that was Basingstoke. This car on these tyres made some very serious (and expensive)4x4s look very silly in deed. The Fiat is by no means an off-roader but with these tyres I was very surprised (and very pleased) at its performance in snow, ice and the subsequent 'melt'. I wouldn't suggest you buy these tyres purely for their 'winter' performance but they might be worth considering given that they seem to work well with small 4x4s in poor conditions.
